SewKitty
I bought the Fastcar templates by Sarah Batdorf. You are suppose to be able color these yourself but I have NO idea how to do this. Do I just put a solid color paper underneath it? HELP!!!
CRS
Which program are you using? I'm only familiar with PSE3 and 5. Here is a link to tutorials in the University. Check out the one about clipping masks (control+G). This allow you to use papers in the templates. I hope this helps!
SewKitty
Sorry I should have said I am using PSE 5. This is not a mask thing though. I "think" I am suppose to be able to color this black and white paper in any color I like. I will just out the link you sent though:-) Thanks
KBT
How about this-With your template layer highlighted, go to Enhance, Adjust color. I typically change the hue/saturation (click the colorize mark) or the color variations. You can actually do both if you like! HTH
PBarnes
The Enhance/Adjust color as just mentioned is the most common way to do it. You can use a clipping mask to add a patterned paper. You place a paper on a layer above the template and hit cntrl + G.

PBarnes
I just took a look at what the FastCar templates are and another thing you can do is lay them on top of a colored background and play with blending modes or the opacity of the template.
