Anyone trying for this year's Memory Makers Masters contest?

Rules are on page 66 of the July issue.

Basically:

4 color copies of original pages on any topic and
one 12x12 original on the theme "joy and comfort."
Must be postmarked by August 15, 2005.

Anyone trying? Tonya (GauchoGirl) was named an Honorable Mention last year. I tried last year, and 2 of my layouts for the contest ended up in the Our Favorites edition on newsstands now. Talina's Greatest Love (last year's theme) LO is in there too!

Anyone thinking about it? Anyone want a buddy so you have someone to talk about your LOs with? I figure paper scrappers have their cropmates to give suggestions, maybe we could pair up and have "mentors." Anyone interested?

I'm interested. I've never tried for anything this major but it should be fun!

Hmm, only 5 pages. That's doable. I try to stay away from these tho, because they are so stressful...but maybe....

Tonya won an honorable mention last year with an all-digital entry. I tried last year with an all digital entry.

They must have received lots of digital entries, because this year, they even have a comment about digital layouts - they want a printed copy AND a CD with your work on it.

I am in! Betsy, maybe you can pair us off, or just keep a thread going where we can check everyone's status and give encouragement. I think I read they (LOs) are not to be posted ANYWHERE... You could, say, email a friend, though, for constructive criticism, right? ;)

I already have an idea for the joy and comfort. I am planning on using printables and digital LOs...or maybe all printables. Hmmm.

Any interest in a Yahoo! Group for encouragement/support/problem solving/deadline tracking?

I'd actually think a biscrapper has a better shot - you can do cool new techniques on the CG ones *and* still use products on the paper ones, you know?

I have 2 done and the 3rd planned in my head. I seriously start dreaming this stuff when it gets time to "compete" LOL. BTW< I am also in a "scrap Idol" contest and have made it through the "Auditions" to the first round. Judging for going on to the second round happens tonight. So I have been eat, sleep and drinking layouts for a few days!
t

edited: I forgot to mention I used Mandy's wonderful kits for my LOs. Here are the two from round 2 (I made it through again!)

OK,
I'm so new at this...should I include any of my older work that I just LOVE? for example...that layout I did with the ladybug and Abbie. I just adore that one...or should I start new and make brand new ones...

Do you girls start with all new stuff?

Theresa, I think they'll disqualify your entry if it's been seen online anywhere. They want only never-before-seen things.

Try this though - what do yo love MOST about that LO? Is it the color scheme? Placement? Photos? "Feel"? - try to replicate it in a new LO

Excellent work, Tonya! Love that little baby butt in diapers, and those roses are in-credible! And what a match with those papers!

Good continued luck in the Scrap Idol contest.

As for MMM, well, we'll see. I can't start now. Too much on my mind. Maybe if I have time once I quit work....

To have a friend is to have a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold and an extra pair of legs when yours are too weak to stand alone...

I have been living buried in books and writing classes... as an added note I must say that it is rather scary when you start dreaming and all you can see within your dreams is words floating everywhere!

Biscrapper I love it. I think that is what I am. One year I entered but got no reply. I was really disappointed but I think I might pick up an issue and give it some serious thought.
