lin
thanks for all the lovely comments about my desktop. Quite a few people have asked how I did it. I'll try to explain !!!! The original idea came from deviantart.com if you do a search for pink wallpaper it should come up. The background was made following a watercolour technique on photoshopelementsuser website. I then put the original photo back on top reduce the opacity so that you can see where you need to make the selections. Using the rectangle marquee tool at a fixed size ( play around with it until you get the size you like) make an odd number of selections I used 5 but you could use 3 or 7 make sure you have grid switched on so that you can line them up. Put opacity back up to 100% Copy the selections onto a new layer and delete the original photo layer. you should then have the watercolour with the photo layer on top. Add stroke and drop shadow if desired. I finished off with the leaf overlay which had a gradient applied. I hope this all makes sense and you can come up with something similar to mine. P.S. Having viewed it full screen all week I would probably change the selection tool to the custom shape tool at a fixed size and then I would be able to align it exactly - I can see that they aren't quite straight and it is beginning to bug me!!!!! jhbren
Thank you so much for your explanation - it makes perfect sense to me. I've been out of reach of a computer for a few days (withdrawal!), so I just found your desktop. It's absolutly breathtaking - stunning photo on an ethereal background. Amazing!
