Still Having Trouble With Abr_frameit_edgy Templates

Help?! I know this is gonna seem really simple to you experienced gals but I just can't get this to work.

Can someone look at the message: Having Trouble Putting Photos.....a few topics down from this one. Ro gave me a great answer, but I'm having trouble with a specific product that doesn't have a photo template. There's a frame but no dark template to put a photo on. When I put my photo on the frame template all I get is my picture stuck to the frame and a hole in the middle. What am I doing wrong with that specific product? It's ABR_SSDLO_FrameIt_Edgy2_12x12_1. I can't find photo templates in any of the Edgy LO templates.

Thanks to anyone who can take the time to answer this question. I must be missing some important, and probably really easy, step.

I don't have the template that you are using but I can tell you how to work around it. When you have an actual "frame" with a hole cut out, you cannot "clip" the photo to it for the reason you mentioned above - the picture will take the shape of the frame but there will be a hole in the middle!

Instead, you could use your Magic Wand set to contiguous. Select the frame layer and click inside the frame to select the hole. Create a new layer for your photo. Open the photo you want to use. Use the shortcut Control+A to select it and then Control+C to copy it. Switch back to your layout. Choose, Edit, Paste Into to put your photo into the space.

Otherwise, you can just place your photo on a layer below the frame, resize and rotate it if necessary, and erase anything that falls outside the frame.

Hope this gets you on the right track!

Hi Evelyn,

I don't have those templates and haven't worked with that type of template too much. Was there an instruction file available to download with your purchase of that set? If not, you might check in the SG University in this category. I didn't look to see if the exact set you have is there but it looks like there are similar ones that would have the instructions you need. HTH

Evelyn, for the Edgy Templates you have to drag your photo underneath the opening for the photo and size it to fit like you want. Then, to get rid of any excess of your photo that may peek outside of the frame here's what you do. Make sure you are on the frame layer and select inside the frame opening with your magic wand tool. I usually expand the selection by 3 pixels (Select>Modify>Expand on the menu) and then invert the selection (Select>Inverse). Once you have the selection inverted click on your photo layer and hit your Delete key. This will clean it up. These instructions are for Photoshop CS3, and I'm not sure what software you are using. Hopefully this will help!
