What Activities Do Your Children Do

Recommended Posts

My DD has been dancing for 13 years on a competitive team. Her plans are to major in dance and teach. She already teaches now as an assistant. Her studio has told her she has a teaching job as soon as she turns 18. That is really all she does, as she is in the studio 6 sometimes 7 days a week.

What do your children do?

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine are grown and gone (except Naomi being grown she's 17 and on her own)

But ....My grandchildren do keep Rebekah busy. Bekah works 3x a week in an opthamologist's office.

And keep her busy when she is home. Bekah loves to sew but doesn't get much time to do it.

Naomi is just trying to stay alive and keep her head above water at this time.

Mine are all growen up but two out of the three still live at home. They play touch rugby, cricket and netball depending on the season. It is our summer now and they spend alot of time at the beach.

I have 19 year old twin girls. They are at college, hopefully studying hard and learning how to be in class with boys (they went to an all-girls high school; co-ed college was high on their list of priorities!) Oh yes, learning how to make snowballs and keep warm.

This time of year snow-shoveling is high on my list of priorities for the kids, however, they do not feel the same. I looked out the door earlier for Cameron - no sight of him yet! Cameron! Caaaaamerrrrrrrrrrrrronnnnnnnnn!

Anyway, what they do this:

DD - college, boyfriend, work, guitar hero and practicing classical guitar and not necessarily in that order

DS#1 - is on his own but loves riding his bike, drawing (he's very good, IMHO), music (he's a big Bob Dylan fan), cooking and playing "gigs" with his band

DS#2 - soccer, karate, guitar, lego, guitar hero (thanks to DD)

DS#2- Plays defensive back and kicker/punter on the high school football team, runs track, active in youth group and Bible study

19 year old daughter #1 full time college student majoring in microbiology. Plays the piano and has continued her lessons with a master teacher. Is having serious angst that she may get her first ever A- in Organic Chemistry. Lifeguard, volunteers teaching swimming lessons. Ballroom dancer. Was on the swim team in HS.

15-17 year old daughters have been dancing since they were 3 and 4. They do about 4 hours of ballet a week. Much toned down from previous years. They are also on a ballroom dance team. They play the piano too.

10 year old boy loves PE club and goes to school at 7:15 one day a week. He played baseball for three years. Now he's just in piano lessons. Homework is enough for him right now. He likes to have time to play outside, ride his unicycle, be a boy. :)

My 7 yr old plays soccer, football and basketball- just one per season. My 4 year old will start soccer in the spring but for now he has a playgroup he goes to. And my little one, almost 2, gets to hang out with her mommy all the time. Lucky girl! She is probably dying to get old enough to do things like her brothers :-)

My daughter in an indoor Hurricane (she's 3) and my son drools. (He's 7 months old.) :D

That is too funny! Mine are indoor Hurricanes as well! I left the room for a couple of minutes this morning. DS (18 months) moved a chair over to the counter, climbed up on top of the counter, and started loading the microwave with dirty dishes from the sink. While DD (4 yrs) emptied a bowl of goldfish crackers onto the carpet and danced on them.....I don't know how they can wreck the house so quickly, but they do everytime my back is turned.

DD is also in dance (pre-ballet) and has her first recital next Wednesday.

Well, my almost 5 y.o. goes to preschool four days a week. When he's not there, he's known as the Haitian Hurricane (see Shari's comment above) and belongs to that "Drive his mother absolutely nuts Club" Right now he'd love to join some sort of space club (really into planets and such) and perhaps some kind of drama club (not only is he a "drama king", he can quote lines from movies after he's seen them once or twice). He also believes himself to be the funniest person on the planet.

We have not enrolled him in any sports even though he looks like he was carved out of marble and is just about the fastest thing on two legs. He doesn't like group activities yet. Hoping that will change because God must have made him athletic for a reason. Still hoping for baseball. ;)

My kids haven't really completely stumbled on their thing - we've done dance, wall climbing, gymnastics, skating, soccer and volley ball. Currently dd, 10 and I are doing tae kwon do - she's been doing it for a little longer than some things, and makes comments about getting different belts, so maybe this is it, although she would like to do clogging as well. I'm ornery, they only get to do one thing at a time! DD, 7 and DS, 5 are both in gymnastics, and DS 2 is in training to be some kind of adrenaline junky - I think he's slightly insane, definitely has no sense of his own mortality. I guess since he's not signed up for anything official, his thinks scaling furniture and walls, and playing ornament baseball are his thing!

Well, my children are all grown now. My oldest son Buddy is a chef and my son John is an automotive technician and volunteer firefighter. My daughter however is a lazy so and so! LOL she just hasn't found her niche yet and being bipolar doesn't help.

My granddaughter Anna though at 20 months old is also an "indoor hurricane"! LOL I was just saying tonight when I came in the door from work that you could tell Hurricane Anna was home!

DD is at college now. She is on Dance Team, since she danced since she was 2. She's involved in Campus Ministry, plays clarinet, and phones home for money when not on the phone with her boyfriend.

DS is still in HS. He loves most sports at the intramural level, but does participate in varsity bowling and any tournament within 50 miles of my house on weekends. He is almost an Eagle Scout. Also plays the drums, and loves to take apart anything that has wires, wheels, remote control, etc.

DD (14) did 4 years of Irish Dance in elementary school, moved on to basketball (not her thing), and has been on her school cheer squad for 2 1/2 years now. (Definitely her thing!) So, so busy with texting, music (ipod), homework, Girl Scouts (earned her Silver Award last year). At home, when not discussing the intricacies of social relationships at school, likes to discuss what color to dye her hair. Likes church activities, too.

DS (10) loves hanging out with our dog, does sports begrudgingly (basketball mostly), would gladly play video games all day and all night long, loves to build with Legos, likes to draw scary science fiction characters, and enjoys Webelos.

Both like to read, too, though I am under strict orders not to mention enjoyment of reading or library trips in front of DD's friends!

Well, my kids are grown and out of the house but when they were young our daughter was a competitive gymnast, skated in the figure skating club, played traveling fast-pitch softball, played soccer (she didn't like it much!), was a high school and college cheerleader (in HS they went to FL for the National Cheerleading Competition), took dance classes and loved watching professional sports and our son played soccer, basketball, baseball, and volunteered with the local cable company producing shows (he was nominated for a MN Cable Television Award one year). Our grandkids are almost as busy now with soccer, basketball, baseball, dance, gymnastics, Tae Kwon Do, etc. Makes me tired thinking about all the running around we did - but it was a lot of fun!
