I'm in! My goals hmm, if it's for the whole year. To lose 30 lbs by next Christmas, go to gym (and actually workout lol) 4 days a week a min of 3 days a week. I guess I need to be here for support so I'm glad you're doing this. I actually thought about joining Weight Watchers after the 1st. Does anyone do that? How do you feel about it?

Well since I really messed up this year, I really have to set my goals and keep it. I have a wedding, a Sweet 16 to attend.
So, I am going to make small goals to start with.

First goal is to get up early two days a week and work out.
Second is to cut out potato chips and dips
Third is to add fruit and veggies to my diet

That's it for now. I am not going to look at this as dieting just a healthy life style change. I am sure with these minor changes in my life some of the weight will start to come off.

I'm in. I also would LOVE to lose 30 pounds. I have been working out since november and have lost 7 pounds so far. You know, the crazy thing is, I have a personal trainer and it makes the workout hard, but so much fun at the same time. It makes me want to go to the gym because I have someone to help me and encourage me and best of all, he pushes me to not give up when I am tired.

Definately need to get back on the wagon again after dealing with bronchitis for most of this month. Yuck! So, I'll start out slowly with walking again and then build up to running. My goal is to do it more consistently, to get out there and so something every day. :)

Count me in! I want to be down 15 pounds by June and another 15 by next December. I figured 2-3 pounds a month won't kill me to achieve and is more realistic for me. Too many times I set this huge goal and then just give up, so heres to baby steps. :)

I'm in too!

My goals...
I WILL lose 40 more pounds and MAINTAIN my current gym routine of 6 days a week.
I WILL be a size 12 by the end of 2008!
Another goal is to train to be able to run a 5k.
Also, keep making healthier eating choices and be a bit better about my water.

Here's to a healthy 2008!

Some have weird names. But they all exist nicely in the same box.

I'm in! I just want to get my ticker back to my goal. Would be nice if I could get there before I go to Hawaii February 29th. I'm a little worried with all this thyroid work they're doing, but I'll know the results in a few days.

Count me back in! I want to lose the 20 pounds that I just gained back (too much candy on the computer!), and an additional 10. This was the goal over the summer, but I lost sight of it. It's going to be a challenge for me, with all the other changes going on around here, but I hope to get back on the treadmill and back in the support thread!

I am just sooooo not into setting goals - mainly because when I do, I never reach them. Hard on the self-esteem. I will set a goal of continuing with my physical therapy regimen and to continue with whatever exercise I can manage around my foot surgeries. I feel pretty good about how I've ended up this year, so if I can continue that progress, then I guess I'm doing ok. I can't set specific weight loss number goals because I never reach them.

I'm in... I need to lose 20, would like to lose 25. I have to get some of this off by the time we leave for Europe in March.

My beginning goals are better water consumption, more conscious less emotional eating, better drive through choices (unfortunately, life on the road with a band is heck on healthy living!), more activity in my day.

Part of this for me is also Balance: daily meditation & prayer, spiritual reading, yoga/pilates, and some solitude (once again hard during life on the road with a band).

OK - I'm off for 5 days with the band, we'll see how I get started before the New Year kicks in.

Somebody bump this up on the 2nd and kick me in the tail again - please?

Thanks for this guys. I need it.

I'm in too. I was doing really good this year up until the move in August....it's seem to be downhill ever since then. I went out yesterday and bought an eliptical machine to help me work on my cardio. Seems to be my big problem. Two years ago I was about 125 and would gladly have the camera pointed in my direction, now you'll find no pics of me. Last year I was up to about 140 and I'm not even about to step on the scale this year. I know its really bad.

Main goals for myself are to used the eliptical at least twice a day. Use the bowflex to work on toning up at least 2 times per week. Drink alot more water and cut done on diet sodas. And eat on a regular schedule. Dh and I are so random on our eating habits...yesterday we only ate once...at 6pm. Terrible for the metabolism.

Can't wait to keep up with everyone in the workout forum!

Ok, I want in on this too! I want to loose 40 pounds (or more!) by next Christmas. I NEED to stop drinking cokes, drink more water and start walking more. Working out is going to be tough to schedule. Can't go to the gym, I'm home with the kids during the day, and at work in the evening. We do have a wii, so I should use that. I really want to get WiiFit when it comes out!

I'm in (again). My fitness goal is to lose and keep off 15 pounds. I would LOVE to lose 25, but I'm trying to be realistic. My goal is to lose it by our annual vacation at the end of May. I am already training 2-3 days a week in karate and that's about all I can do from a physical standpoint. I also want to stop drinking soda altogether. My other goal is to make more crock pot meals on the nights we are training so we don't have to do fast food for dinner. That requires more planning on my part which is another goal - more organization. :disappearing-smilie:

This is just what I need. I've been trying to lose some weight since I saw myself in my brothers wedding photos last September. So far I have lost 31 pounds, but still have quite a bit to go. My goals are to get back into the exercise routine I had to begin with. I've really slacked off this past month or so. I have the eating down pretty well, but could be doing so much better if I could exercise regularly. I also need to add drinking water to my goals as well. So, here are my goals put officially in writing:

1. Get back on the exercise bandwagon! :exercisebike:
2. Drink water!!
3. Lose 40 more pounds.

Looking forward to seeing everyone reach their goals! Thanks for the thread.

Well I worked on my goals yesterday, as a matter of fact it was my appt. day with my JC consultant. so, its perfect timing. I have lost a total of 28 pounds in 07. My orginal goal was to lose 65. Now I started the diet in July so it wasn't bad for half a year. For 2008 my goals are:

25 to 30 pounds (depending on heallth issues)
walking build up to 3 miles a day at least 3 days a week
water continue with drinking half my weight per day with H2O
right now I'm a size 10 to 12 depends on the outfit, I'd like to get to an 8
also maintain the weight loss without the up and down ,
not to revert to emotional eating when life doesn't go just right.....

So there they are , tough ones but I have the confidence to attempt them with a realistic view of achieving them....

My main goals are to drink more water and eat better. I think that I have devoted myself to the workout. I just need to get my body to be more energetic, and I'm sure that comes from a balanced diet and more water. I'm going to get a notebook so I can keep track of what I'm eating and drinking for a few weeks until I can do it without writing it down.

I'd really like to lose 15 lbs in the next couple of months, drink more water & eat more fruits & veggies. The only way that I seem to lose weight though is exercise. The water part & eating fruits/veggies is pretty easy, but the exercise part is much tougher. My problem is that I need to come up with an exercise program that I have time for & I'll stick with. Those of you with exercise programs (at home) figured out - what do you do?

Boy, I'm right there with Mindy! Need to drop about 15 pounds, eat more fruits & veggies and drink water! About that exercise.... If I just went out and played with my 'baby' collie I'd do fine, but I have an aversion to below freezing temperatures and howling winds!! Working out in the exercise room while my kids are at swim practice is an option with some motivation....

OK... I'm not so good at goals either (it is hard on the self-esteem when you don't reach them ... and these ... are the really tough ones to reach). That being said ....

I have 2 weddings to go to next fall and want to lose 40lbs by then (would settle for 30 but 40 would be much nicer). My obstacles to exercise at the moment are challenging.

Gym opens at 5am. I need to be at work at 7. Therefore need to be in the shower at 6:15 so can't do the morning thing at the gym (used to do this and it got REALLY hard after a while anyway so wasn't really looking forward to that). Afternoons .. home with the kids (one's 12 the other's 8). Thought about leaving them alone for a while but they're sisters and .... well ... putting one in charge of the other usually begs disastrous results. So, that leaves the evenings. That's also a tough one to pull off, by the time I've digested dinner enough to work out ... it's late and all I want to do is relax!

So ... I'm looking to figure out ways to incorporate exercise into my daily life without trying to squeeze impossible time in at the gym. Anyone have any suggestions, I'm all ears!

If I get at least some of it off, I'm considering taking up horseback riding again. Have a daughter that's expressed interest (although not the kind of interest I had at her age). Would be a great excuse to say I'm going to the barn cause Morgan wants to go and since I'm there anyway .... well ... might as well get something out of it myself :). Have to get some of this weight off first though.

Time to pull out my food logs again and start writing it all down.

OK, I'm in too. 20 more pounds in time to hit the Assault on Marion in June! It'll just be me and my bicycle (and about a 1000 other people) riding 75 miles UP A MOUNTAIN!

Pounds lost or not, I'm doing the ride- I'd much rather haul 20 less pounds up that mountain, though! grin

Ok, I'm in I need to lose - I hate to say it but 40 pounds - I was a skinny minny most of my life and moved to this neighborhood which has parties (mostly like wine/appetizer type parties), I don't drink alcohol beverages but LOVE snacky foods (& Chocolate) and the weight has just piled on.

So, I need to lose weight. My goal is to lose 2 pounds a week.
Exercise (don't need to add regularly, just start!)
Quit eating Junk and replace it with fruits/veggies even at those parties.
And, my hand is shuttering, take more breaks away from my PC (I mean SG) for Active Interests get my body moving I mean!
I already drink a ton of water so don't need to add that one.

Well here's to a Healthy and better shaped Debi in 2008 whose not embarassed to have her picture taken. In fact, we celebrated our 25th anniversary last year - and we were both so over weight that I didn't want to do anything because I didn't want pictures taken - That's pathetic! So, hopefully, by next year we can do a renewal of our vows and be proud of who we are! At our wedding, it was only us and another couple, and we have some picture but they aren't very good. So, I was always looking forward to our 25th renewal of vows ceremory - and it came and went with a dinner out.

So, GET HEALTHY, EAT RIGHT, EXERCISE! KEEP TRACK! THANKS FOR THE THREAD! You guy will keep me honest. Thanks. :exercisebike:

My short term goal by March - have lost 20 pounds.

My long term year goal - have lost 30 -35 pounds.
The steps I have taken so far: I eat less than 2200 calories a day, lots and lots water, one cup of plain coffee during work days. I do small exercises during day to help strength my back muscles and core muscles to improve my back. I want to go to the gym at least 2 days a week to walk the track or swim in the indoor pool.

Okay, workout girls, I'm officially in for 2008. I just got back from my cruise, and I must confess I ate way too many of the delicious desserts they had! My goal is to lose 4 to 5 lbs each month during 2008. That means a total weight loss of 48 to 60 lbs.

I hoped to be down to 205 by the end of January, but I'm afraid to get on the scales since the cruise!!! When I get the nerve, I'll set up a new ticker with my goals! That little ticker and this MB forum seem to help hold me accountable! Okay, I will step on the scale before the end of the week!!

Well, you all got the jump on me, but that’s ok … better late than never, eh?
I think I have a sugar addiction … once I wean myself off sugar I can turn down anything … including chocolate! And trust me, I am a chocoholic! I have a LOT of weight to lose and have tried, in the past, to set small goals so as not to get overwhelmed with the big picture. I have found that I can do great setting 90 day goals, but once I reach that goal, instead of moving on to the next goal I “relax” and most of what I lost comes right back on. I do not want this year to be yet another year where I end up the same as what I started. Time for ACTION … and a change up … because obviously something isn’t working right.

I would like to lose 60 pounds by Dec 31rst. That seems a reasonable goal as there are 45 weeks left in the year (as of this week) and 60 pounds is less than 2 pounds per week ... so it seems attainable. Of course, if I lost more than that I would be tickled! I plan on limiting my calories to 1500 per day and by getting back to a consistent workout of 30 – 45 minutes of cardio 5 days a week, and 2 to 3 days of free weights.

I have the head knowledge of what it takes, now I just gotta have heart!

Well at almost 2 months in I am down 7.0, so almost half way to my June goal! I am very happy with that, but I am hoping that I will be able to drop 8+ by the end of April when we go on vacation. :)

How is everyone else doing so far? I hope things are going well!

You go Trish!! I'll take 7 lbs anyday!!

I have no idea where I stand on the scale. I know I've been down since I was so sick a few weeks ago, but I DO know that I have turned my diet around. I'm eating way better and eating slighly less. I'm also upping the vitamins and supplements. I have to tell you that I added biotin to my daily routine, and my nails are like, well, nails! Who knew? Do you have weak, soft fingernails? Try some biotin! You'll see the difference in about a week. No kidding!

OK, back to work! THe 1st quarter of the year is coming to an end. Need to rework those fitness goals? Now is the time to do it!!
