Good news! I climbed on the scale today for the second time since I've started my routine. I've lost 5 lbs!! Yes! That gets my motivation up even more.

OK how to beat the munchies? Get those new Special K bars! They come in orange and raspberry and they are dipped in dark chocolate...I'm NOT kidding. At 90 calories, you will feel like you are cheating! They are super sweet though, so eat them early or else they will keep you up at night
Remember, girls, that exercise does NOT always mean weight loss. Your body changes to adapt to the exercise. If you have been stagnant for a long time, your body will create new muscle mass while ridding of the fat, so if the scale says nothing, be sure to check how that clothing fits. Chances are it will fit better as your body redistributes itself!! So those of you who are liking how your clothes fit, this would be the reason! Enjoy the new you!
I'm back in the saddle this morning. I have made no major changes in my workout, just my eating habits. I can't tell you what I weigh, I haven't been on the scale in forever. But I still feel pretty good. I have been fighting this intestinal thing, and I can't help but wonder if it is IBS. Anyone else struggle with this? I'm going to give it another week and if it doesn't get better, than I'll seek out a doctor.
In the meantime though, I'm pushing the upper body work out. I'm up to 50 bicep curls, 25 each arm with 10 pd weights. I really want to tone them up for the short sleeve shirts (here in MN we should be in them in about 6 months or so...LOL!) but I'll be ready!
How was your weekend? Cathy, are you on that cruise yet?!?

Friday - exercised Friday night for 1 hour. Have not done that in a long time. Before my back surgery a year ago.
Saturday Morning and Afternoon - WALKED FOR 2-1/2 Hours!!! Again, have not done this after my double back surgery! I am getting stronger! Yipee!
I have been heavily watching my caloric intake as well!

Did a 50 min walk on treadmill at 3.3 mph. 250 calories burned.
No weight loss, but firming up the waist, my clothes fit better.

It is Tuesday. Nothing big going on this week except that DH is taking his daughter back to college tomorrow so he will be driving all day and night, to Kansas and back. He keeps saying he can do it in a day. I keep telling him to just take the night and sleep there. He thinks life here will fall apart if he isn't here! Um, I think I can handle it...
Anyway, the workout continues. I feel really good this week, and I'm eating great! I have to keep it up! I'm trying to cut out the chocolate after 5pm (HARD) but I'm substituting tea, and the like. I'm drinking alot of tea. It is easier than getting all that water in if you substitute the tea for the water.
I'd really like to try that hip-hop abs...anyone here try it? It looks fun.
OK, gotta keep moving! Check in with me!

Last night was a bad night. I did not get to exercise due to helping dd with school work. She is testing all this week. She is going to school each day this week until 12:30pm. They let the kids out then because of the SAT testing.

Melissa, it's good to see you hear, and I'm so glad to hear that you have been able to walk that far!! Barb, Bethany & Teresa, your posts are motivating me to get with it!!
Theresa, I'm still getting the Hungry Girl newsletter. They are filled with such energy and good ideas! I just need to implement more of them!
I posted my goals on the other thread, and I SHALL step on the scale by the end of the week. Tomorrow I will hit the treadmill and work on my water. I saw your recommendations, Theresa, on getting up to 45 minutes, so that's my first goal in the exercise department. The colder weather, holidays and the vacation have interrupted my walking routine with my buddy, but NO MORE EXCUSES!!!!
It's good to be back! Looking forward to getting trim and fit with you all!

Will be at gym every AM this week for at least one hour.

My biggest accomplishment has been to limit supper to one reasonable serving and not taking seconds just for taste. I've always been able to eat when and what I wanted with no consequences, but this over 40 thing changed all that BIG time. Now if I look at it I gain! The Christmas cookie weight is almost gone--now to work on the extra weight that crept up on me this last year or so.....

Anyway, I ordered those vita-tops that hungry girls advertised. I got two boxes of them (why buy one when you can buy two?). They are pretty good! They are full of fiber...and taste great with a steaming cup of coffee. It makes a great snack and it fills you up pretty good. I'd say they are worth it especially if you want to improve on your fiber intake.
Today is THURSDAY. One more workout day after today. We will ice skate Saturday too. It is supposed to get so cold here that our highs won't even reach 0 degrees F. Now THAT is cold! So, lots of indoor stuff, I'm afraid.
How about you? Any exciting plans?

I have been busy, busy, busy...really watching my calories now (I've been tracking them on FitDay.com and it has made a huge difference) and keeping up with my exercise routine. I'm doing 6 days of cardio now and still keeping up with the weights. I've lost 9 lbs in 3 weeks and feel like I'm back on track again.
I haven't tried Hip Hop Abs but another GREAT hip-hop type workout is "Rock Your Body" by Jamie King...this one is excellent! Gotta love Hip-Hop aerobics
It's my dd's Birthday weekend, so we have ice skating, sledding, and bowling planned...but also her favorite Italian restaurant and Cheesecake Factory for dessert planned. Hope they even themselves out LOL.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Theresa, there were lots of sugar-free options and lots of fresh fruit on the cruise! That wasn't always my choice, but the times I did choose the sugar-free, it helped!!
Cindy, I've used FitDay before.....think I'll try to get back in the habit. I agree that writing it down sure makes you think about it more!!!
I've been working on my resume. Will try to finish it up this weekend and begin some layouts with all our pics!!
Have a good one,

It is MONDAY!!! Granted, it is a US holiday, but that is NO excuse! Get up and get moving, girls!! I slept in a half hour this morning but figured I had better get up and have at it. DH is still sleeping. He needs it more than I do this week...
So, this week we are heading into the third full week of the month...could it be? Oh my! How are we tackling our goals? Do you need to make any adjustments? I have been doing great with my water intake. Yesterday we did order a pizza to watch the games by...and I had a few beers. But, the playoffs only come once a year, right?
OK, so tell me how you are doing. Cindy, yes, tell me about those videos. I'd love to know. I'd love to have someone kick me in the pants and I think those videos may be just what will do it.

I am working today. No rest for the tired like me. I am goofing off right at this moment though to tell you that I exercised both Sat and Sun for an hour a piece. My tummy feels a little tighter. I am doing safe exercises for my core cause of back issues and it is working. I am doing reverse push ups that my PT showed me awhile back and it is working.
I was bad on Sunday though, I had a ham sandwich with a teaspoon of mayo on it and feel oh so guilty!

I bought a new scale on Saturday and even though I'm not supposed to weigh myself until Friday I had to try it out! Well I liked what it had to say, so I kept it LOL! The one I use at the gym hasn't been calibrated in forever and I'm sure it is totally off, so I wanted a more reliable one to use at home.
I didn't do anything yesterday except a little bowling at my dd's birthday party. But, I did 35 minutes on the elliptical this morning and some upper body weights.
Theresa, if you're interested... Rock Your Body by Jamie King
This is the video that I love...I have a dance background, and the only comment I have is that it may move too quickly because it it very choreographed. Jamie King's background is in dance and he's not a fitness or aerobics instructor. But, I can tell you it is fun even if you're not getting all the steps.

It's cold here in Oklahoma, but not nearly as cold as some of you are experiencing. Stay warm everyone and stay well so we can keep those bodies moving and grooving!

Have been able to burn 200-260 calories per "walk" on the treadmill, plus weights, as long as I keep my
head upright (dizzy spells lately.) High BP is coming down slowly on recently prescribed meds. Hope to
still lose the other 2-3 pounds before our cruise mid Feb.

I decided to dump my ticker. I have stayed the same weight for 6 months now and it seems clear to me that no matter what I do, I will never get below 120 again. I think I just have to realize that I am 40+, and those last few pounds could only be lost if I jeopordized my health...which I won't do. I'm happy this way and I will just strive to maintain and not get back out of control.
So, that being said, I am still here to beat the crap out of all of you. I'm going to offer up a challenge to those not working out 5 days a week. I want you to add a day. Let's get our workouts up to at least 3 days, if you are doing 2....4 days if you are doing 3...5 days if you are doing 4. If it is just impossible for you to do, then take one of your days and add 30 minutes. This can be spent taking a qucik walk, marching in place in front of the TV, anything to get an extra workout in.
Are you up for the challenge?
Theresa
