Shelbi
I must be tired. I am working on a LO and it just isn't working. I cut squares out of photos all the time, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to cut a circle shape out of a photo.... Anyone here who can help me out? MomofCam
Hey Michelle ... looks like we are ringing in the new year in front of the computer ... no place I'd rather be ... LOL! If you are using a Photoshop program ... I am guessing they are all about the same where this function is concerned (you may soon tell me otherwise), but when you select your cutting tool, if you right click, it should give you the option of changing from a rectangle to a circle. Also, where my cutting tool shows a rectangle, there is a tiny triangle on the "button" in the botton corner. If you click on that triangle it will also give you the other cutting shapes to choose from. Hope this helps!
anna
In PSE, I would use the Marquee tool. Select the circle shape (you can right click on the Marquee tool button or after you've selected the tool, choose the circle up at the top of the screen on the options bar, or just keep pressing M until you get the circle marquee), draw the circle (if you hold the Shift key down, it will make a perfect circle), make sure the layer that you want to cut is selected. Then, if you want tto erase everything inside the circle, just press delete. If you want to erase everything outside the circle, press CTRL + ALT + I to select everything except the part you selected. Then press delete. Clear as mud? We just got home from a party and I Just sat down to check my email. If this doesn't make sense, and I am just rambling, I'm really sorry and I'll try to do better tomorrow. Ohh-you could use a clipping mask as well. Press U to get the shape tool, keep pressing it until you get the circle, or select it from the options bar at the top of the screen. Draw your shape (again, hold the shift key down to get a perfect circle). Move that layer directly below the photo layer. Make the photo layer active. CTRL + G will clip the photo to the circle. Merge both layers and you're done.
ManiakMama
I was going to suggest using the custom shape tool and then clipping your photo to the shape using a clipping mask.
