I was just checking to see if there was an update about our little Gracie yet. Launa, I do hope everything is OK. You are still getting prayers!

I am so sorry it took me so long to get back to you all! But reading your replys and feeling all your prayers brought tears to my eyes. :bighug:

Gracie's hip was dislocated, which sounds like a quick fix, but in reality it will take surgery. They said she would never be 100% but I am not going to believe that! She is a young and very athletic dog! She is staying with the vet tonight (the girls really hate that) and they will do the surgery tomorrow (no small price tag either!) And she should be home to start her recovery by tomorrow night. They said it should take about 3 months.

So still be saying some prayers for the surgery and a 100% recovery! Thank you so much for all your Love and support! You all truely are my family! I felt your prayers all day! :i-love-it:

Well, not EXACTLY the news we were hoping for... but it is better than most.
Don't let the nay-sayers get you down. A big hearted dog with a loving family can heal most anything. It will be like you can't even tell before too long. (I have a dog that has lived through 3 different times of the vets say "I just don't know if he'll make it through this one." And he has every time.) Your Gracie is going to make it through with the loving TLC that only your family can give her. I hope you and your girls can stay calm through the night. Gracie is being kept comfortable. Keep us updated after the surgery and getting her home if you're up to it!
Hugs to you and your family (including the 4-legged variety) :bighug: :bighug: :bighug: :bighug: :bighug:

Well, I am sorry to hear it will require surgery but I am glad it is something fixable. I am sure she will be up and about in no time. I know my kids love their dog so much so I am sure your little ones are not so happy right now. Hang in there. Little Gracie is getting lots of prayers!

Launa, I'm getting on the computer late today and am just reading this thread. I'm so glad Gracie has something repairable. Having lost a beloved doggie to a car injury, I know how traumatic it would have been for your family if you'd lost her. Here's praying for a quick recovery for her (and patience for your girls during her recovery).

Launa,

I'm so sorry to hear about Gracie. I was so hoping it would be something more simple, but I'm also glad she will be getting the care she needs. As you say, she's young, after her surgery, she'll bounce right back! With a loving family, dogs make wonderful recoveries! I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers today.

Don't get discouraged. We had a Great Dane, Gabe, who at 3 had to have knee replacement! At 175lbs they told us he definitely would always limp and wouldn't be 100%.....HE WAS! He and his brother (littermates) were jumping and running in no time. We kept him down (no small feat) for 8 wks and then slowly began walks and he did wonderfully. I think it depends on the dog and the family. And it sounds like Gracie has both of those going for her! Our Gabe walked better than his brother Ty that was the same size!

We'll keep you in our prayers!!

Thank you all for your prayers and support! You'll never know how much it means to me! Sometimes you feel silly for being so upset over an animal, but I know with all the animal lovers around here you all understand! Her surgery should be sometime this afternoon (eastern time) and they said they would first try to pop it back in but it only works 1/10 times. If that didn't work they would go right into the surgery. But wouldn't that be great if it popped back in! I am believing for it!

I'll let you all know when I hear anything new! Thanks!! :i-love-it:

I remember how silly I felt crying over my dog for 2 straight days when he passed away, but everyone here and in real life made me realize what a part of the family pets are, and that it's not silly. They are our babies! Let's hope and pray that Gracie is that 1 in 10 and can avoid surgery!!

Ok ya'all....Gracie is home, very sleepy, but doing well. She had the surgery, they said it will be a while before she is up, which means this huge outside dog is sleeping in my laundry room :D The surgery cost about 175.00 less than we thought, so that is good, right? Anyway she has a long road to recovery, so please keep those prayers comming! :i-love-it:

I'm so glad that she's already home with you. She'll be slow for awhile but she's gonna' be fine. You literally won't be able to keep her down long. This will be good for your girls too, watching and helping through this process.

Keep us updated and I'll keep your family in my prayers.

Oh, I hope she recovers quickly! Our Jake had to have a pin put in his thigh after DH accidently ran over him. It was a $3k bill!! UGH!! But he was so worth it. He shows NO sign of that surgery. I wish the same for Gracie!!

I'm so glad that Gracie did well with the surgery. I'm sure with her devoted humans she will make a speedy recovery. Please keep us updated as she progresses. To a lot of people our pets are our "fur" children. I'm so happy that there was something that could be done. I will say a prayer to St. Francis for Gracie for sure tonite:)

Oh, it's so hard to see our fur babies in pain. Give her lots of love and attention and I'm betting that she'll recover quickly. Doctors always have to tell you the worst case scenario so you don't get your hopes up, but I'm a strong believer in proving them wrong (my remarkable formerly broken elbow can attest to that). Dogs adapt really well. And if she only makes it back to 99%, that wouldn't be so bad. :)

Lots of love to you and your family (including a gentle hug to Gracie),
~Zaz
