I am so glad I found this. I know that there is a WW place here in town that meets Thursday mornings. However, I cannot afford WW or anything else which is why I went back to South Beach as I have their cookbook. My sister belongs to TOPS. My biggest concern is in the near future when I have the rest of my teeth taken out (consultation on monday with oral surgeon) because of decay that is beyond repair. 10 yrs ago I had already had most of all my molars taken out and I know from past experience that I will need to be on a soft foods/liquid diet for at least a couple months. I now have high blood pressure and am pre-diabetic. So I need some help in knowing what foods to get, how to make the soft foods in the blender etc. I do not have a cuisinart or any of the expensive stuff. I don't like the energy drinks like Ensure etc at the stores because I can taste the vitamins etc in it and they are distasteful to me. So any help would be appreciated. however I have lost 6.8 lbs in the past 2 mos. I now weigh myself every monday.

Correction** - yes you CAN have bread on core, you just have to count the points for it. Core members get 35 Weekly Points Allowance, too! Most of my WPAs go for breads

Ok Tues was my 1st weigh in. I lost 4.8 in the 1st week, and that was with me going out with my girlfriends for dinner and drinks over the weekend. I know it won't always be that big of an amount, it just shows me how much I was over eating that I truly didn't need. I know I need to work on the water intake more, it seems easier at home then at work, don't know why. I think when I hit my 5lb mark I'll treat myself to an eyebrow wax which I'm in desperate need of, hopefully on Tues! 10lb mark will be a manicure I've been wanting but just not finding the time or $ for so that will be my treat for that mark.

Congrats on you loss:) Thinking of blended foods how about fruit smoothies, the fruits low in sugar of course, in the blender. You can make various kinds and veggie ones also. If you blend tofu in, which has no flavor you'll get protein also. I steam my veggies so soft, esp cauliflower you can almost make mashed potatoes out of them

I've been Lifetime since March 2003! I can't believe it's been 5 years! I weigh in monthly and have been at goal weight until the past few months when my Dad was doing poorly and since passed away. I need to go back to a few meetings to get back to goal weight. I love it - and have found it to be a very livable program. Go for it! You'll be glad you did.

Thanks for the positive support. I never really understood what it meant to be a lifetime member but I think I get it now. Sorry about you Dad. I agree it does seem to be a very livable program. One question, do forever count points?

I'm glad I came across this forum. I've been a lifetime WW member since 2004, but over the past 2 years my mother went through a long illness and passed away, and then I quit smoking after most of my adult life. I guess I'm making excuses, but with both of those major events, I let the weight creep back up. Still not where it was when I first joined WW, but enough that I'm uncomfortable. Your posts have inspired me to get back on track. I've loved Scrap Girls since I first came across it; this is just one more reason I think it's the best!

I loosely count points now, but when I creep way up I start counting and writing it down daily. It really does help to keep track of what you put in your mouth. Lifetime member just means that you have reached a pre-determined weight that you set when you join. (there are some WW parameters that your goal weight must fall within) Once you reach that and maintain it for 6 months, you don't have to go weekly anymore or pay anymore as long as you maintain that weight. If you go over your goal weight plus 2 pounds, you just pay the weekly meeting fee until you get back to that weight. In 5 years, I have had to pay for only 2 or 3 months. It keeps me honest, because believe me, I can pack it back on in a hurry.

Hi -- my name is Kathy -- I just started reading this about Weight Watchers. I've been struggling with about 100 extra pounds for several years. Last June I was hospitalized with Acute pancreatitis and ended up getting my gall bladder removed....yada yada yada....and have lost 70 pounds just from being too sick to eat.

When I went back to work, I joined the "At Work" program and it has been a great experience. Not only do I need to stay on the program to lose weight, I've learned the REAL importance of eating healthy. For me, the Weight Watchers core plan is perfect because I can't eat more than 20 grams of fat a day and need to stick to whole grains, fruits and vegetables.

It's great to get the encouragement at work and this will be another place to get and give encouragement at home! Everyone has been making such good progress!
Hugs, Cowthy

Last I checked it wasn't 6 months to get to lifetime, I think it is more like 6 weeks.
And it was when I stopeed wounting points that I got lazy and started to gain. Another thing is to set your goal weight a bit higher than where you want to be. I really like being 10 pounds less than my goal weight, but after being there for a while, I realized it wasn't a realistic place to stay. (I had to keep eating 20 points or less to stay there.) Some leaders don't even have you choose a goal weight when you start for that very reason.

Hey WW girls! One thing that really helped me get back on track last year was a challenge board on the WW website. The original leader of that thread is no where to be found but I really credit that board with helping me get back in the swing of things. Would any of you guys be interested in having a weekly challenge thread for WW?

I can give you an example of the type of challenges that we did last year. One challenge was to switch up our activity for the week. If we walked all the time we were challenged to earn activity points by doing at least one new thing. Another challenge was to drink all of our water each day for the whole week. Another was to do at least 5 fruits a veggies a day. Do you get the picture? If you guys want I could post a challenge each week and we could check in on the thread throughout the week. The point is just to focus on small changes each week.

What do you say? Anyone interested???

I may post another thread just in case this one gets buried. If you see two you only need to respond to one or the other.

Sounds great! I think the first great challenge for me would be to start tracking pints religiously again. :D

I really need to sign up. I just don't know if I can stand the scale. I'm guessing that I have about 140 pounds to lose and that just sounds too scary for words. I'll let you know if I get brave.

Sounds good to me! Yesterday's weight scale results from last week: 161.8 up from 161.2 But thats okay. Starting this week I'm gonna step up my exercises and do something new for me...no more food after 9 pm which should be good since I saw the oral surgeon and depending on when the surgery will be I cannot eat or drink anything for 3 hours before the surgery. UGH! At least we are gonna leave 3 bottom teeth in to anchor partials on the bottom and full dentures on top. At this point it seems we might be shooting for February for the surgery although it can happen as soon as next week. I do know that I will be incommunicado for the first 24 hours after the surgery and slow recovery for the 2 weeks following that.

Wow, am I glad I found this topic! I bought the "At-home" kit a few years ago and have gone on and off the program since then. I am trying to be back on it because it really does make me feel better, both physically and mentally. I have lurked around the WW boards but they can get pretty catty, my faves are the recipes and food finds. This will be an awesome place for support, we even have our own leader-thanks Jenn for your suggestions so far. I am looking forward to the challenges.
