My husband used to be very into rock climbing and his favourite type of rock was Yorkshire Gritstone, he was even mentioned in the credits of the reprinted Yorkshire Gritstone guide when the local climbing routes were reviewed and regraded.

When I first wanted to venture into the realm of message boards and fanfiction I wished to keep some privacy so I created an additional email address using gritstoner as the name. This was about 6 or 7 years ago and its stuck with me ever since. Now I use that name for anything to do with hobbies or interests and my 'real' name for all the boring life stuff and family and friends.

Interestingly enough, my husband also chose the name gritstoner for his ebay ID without realising that I'd been using it for years. It was several months later when I wanted to set up an ebay account that I discovered it already existed and was moaning to him that it was already used. What a surprise that it turned out to be him!

Hi (this is my first post, so please bear with me)-

My name "sprinklz" is also the name I use to sign my work as an artist and designer. I had been looking for a one word name to use for my business that was descriptive but not too limiting. My designing style features happy themes and lots of color, and I thought "Marnie's fun colorful artwork" was a bit too wordy.

So after several months of rejected ideas, I picked up my daughter from day camp. She was describing her day to me and mentioned how much fun they had in cooking class. They made cupcakes with icing and put sprinkles on top. As soon as she said "sprinkles" I knew that was it - I mean what is more fun than a cookie or cake with sprinkles on top.

That was in 2001. I have been using the name sprinklz ever since.

:daisy: well my screen name is moopadaisy and let's see how that came about! lol..........

A LONG time ago my DH and I were watching Seinfeld and it had Jerry w/ some girlfriend and they were calling each other schmoopy, so jokingly we started calling each other that and after awhile it got shortened to schmoop, then moop or moopa! And daisies are my favorite flower so MOOPADAISY was born! LOL

I'm not very original. When I started making screen names years ago I wanted something my husband and I both could use and remember. cjgsmg are his initials and my initials.

Cropnpix - it's pretty obvious this name came from my days as a paper scrapper but I guess it applies to digi-scrapping too. But the reason it arose was interesting. I used to be part of an e-mail group and we were a tight-knit group. I think at the time I just used my name and so did a lot of the other gals. Internet stuff was kinda new then. Well one of the gals just went psycho on us. When everyone was planning to fly into Dallas to go to one of the early Great American Scrapbook Conventions, she wasn't coming (though she had met up with us the year before) because frankly, she'd pretty much run everyone off from her nutty behavior. Well this nut hacked into one of the gal's e-mails just by guessing that one of us might use our child's name as an AOL password and she hit on one. She was reading our e-mails, got the confirmation number for our hotel that I had e-mailed to someone, and she waited until the night before we were to arrive and canceled our reservation! So here are all these people standing at the desk of the hotel not believing we had no rooms! Needless to say, everyone changed their e-mails AND passwords after that so I chose one that didn't reflect my name in any way.

That reminds me of the books my ds like to read- the Sir Cumference series

faerywings comes from the name of my business Faery-Wings Apothecary. I am an aromatherapist and make all natural bath and body care, pet care, baby care etc. But the most fun part of my biz is that I make customa made scented faery wings to wear.

I was inspired to choose my screenname while listening to the popular Hawaiian song "Wahine 'Ilikea". I've been studying Hawaiian for several years, and wanted to use a Hawaiian word in my screenname.
"Wahine 'Ilikea" means "fair-skinned woman"; I thought of using that, but also wanted to use my nickname, Bina, which is shortened from 'Robina', my nickname combining my given name 'Robin' and middle initial 'A', so I combined Wahine and Bina, and voilà: WahineBina. :)

I make stuff up :P "Hick" comes from living in rural Kentucky, and "Belle" comes from my Memaw...whose name was Iris Belle.

I'm Sing Praises for everything scrapping related. All of my screen names involve praise or worship. Music has always been my greatest love and singing my greatest gift. Even before I became a Christian, I was happiest when I sang and I always felt like I was singing to God, no matter what the lyrics. Now that I know Christ, praise and worship is my greatest passion. I'm on the praise team at my church and feel called to lead worship in the future. I believe my purpose on this planet is to worship God with my whole heart and encourage others to do the same.

I recently visited Egypt. I fell in love with a little village there. Zankalon. I have many friends and family there. I would have stayed except that my 3 children are here. I often feel like I left my heart in Zankalon. I actually fit in better there then I do here. Go figure. Hence the name Zankaloney.

This is a fun thread!

My username in MovieStar because my married name is Elizabeth Taylor. I enjoy having a movie star name, I have fun with it. I like to change my avatar to different pictures of a lovely young Liz Taylor. I am not a glamorous person at all. I am a very natural, no make-up kind of gal although every now and then for a special event I glam up. I can’t wait to start scrapping the photos of my dh and myself in Vegas. I was one glam lady while we were there!

I`ve not seen this thread before and I really enjoyed reading through the different replies. The one that touched my heart the most was Thao`s explanation. I am also a Christian and His child and thought it was pretty neat the way Thao came up with "His" Thao. I think there are a lot of Christians at scrapgirls and that is one reason why I like it here and feel comfortable.

My screen name Bellagirl is actually taken from my dog`s name Bella and she is a little girl. I use it on a lot of different web sites because it is easy to remember.

Hi. I've just seen this thread and it is so interesting! There are some names that I've wondered about (like yours gritsoner and sailbeachcatz) and now I know how they came to be. Some people are so creative.

The initials of my first name and my surname are LK so that's where I got mine from. I first started to use it as a password on my PC at work as it was easy to remember but now I use it all the time.

I have been gijill (G.I. Jill) since I first started on the internet (around 1994?) and when I got promoted to Sergeant First Class, I changed to sfcgijill (SFC G.I. Jill). that was at the end of 1998.

I have thought a lot lately about changing my online name, but I haven't come up with anything yet that just "feels" right.

BTW, my name is not Jill. It's Becky! G.I. Becky just didn't have the same ring.

My name is Sherri and I have collected carebears since I was a little girl. (Sharebear is that name of one of the carebears).
The 57 was added when I signed up for my email address. Sharebear was taken and Sharebear57 was among the suggested alternatives. I chose that one (57) b.c my dad's s/n was Romig57.
