TERESAL
I have been saving all my digitals on a flash drive....but now i've run out of space. I could save to the main computer hard drive....but I really don't want to. Does anyone use DVD-RW to save on or have any other suggestions? ginaMO
DVDs are a good choice, EHD's are a better one, once you realize just how much space you are going to need.
Sarah in VA
Why, you've given me a good idea! I never thought about saving layouts on a flash drive - and I've got a new 2GB one. Does anyone know if these are stable enough for long term storage?
PBarnes
I save my layouts to my internal hard drive but occasionally save them off to DVDs to free up space. I'm saving for an EHD.
Prahe
Hi, While I have not had any problems with my flash drive, I have several friends who have had disasters. I would only ever use it for temp. storage. I back everything up to my external hard drive (EHD) which has some rediculously huge amount of storage space. That being said I don't think any storage system is 100% disaster proof. Losing all your work/photos is the ultimate lesson in impermanence!! April Showers
Why, you've given me a good idea! I never thought about saving layouts on a flash drive - and I've got a new 2GB one. Does anyone know if these are stable enough for long term storage? Flash drives are more stable than hard drives, they just cost a lot more per G. I wouldn't use them for long term storage. I use DVD's for another back-up because they're a lot less expensive. I have a sister in law who won't ever take the photos off the camera cards, she just keeps buying new ones. That is one way to back up your photos. Sending them a really nice little EDH for Christmas. Hmmm, better get that sent out! I finally stuck the cookies I was going to mail to my daughter in the freezer.
Sarah in VA
I make DVD's for real backup storage, but I hadn't even thought of the flash drive for temporary.l Oh boy, I know about those camera cards...I have a friend like that - I bet she's got a zillion memory cards stacked up. Won't even consider taking the pictures off! I know your SIL is really going to appreciate such a nice gift!
