That's right, meet me (laurellakey) in the chat room tonight, January 24th at 8:30pm ET, for a fun visit while we create and share a layout based on or inspired by my sketch! What is a sketch? Why, it's the best thing since sliced bread! Okay, maybe not the best thing, but it's pretty high on the list. A sketch is a flattened jpeg that has a basic layout set up. You can then use the sketch to create your own layout. You can go directly from the sketch or just be inspired by parts of it and make it your own. It's all up to you! The point is to have FUN with it! I will post the link to the sketch a couple of hours before the chat begins, so that you will have a chance to download it and start on your layout. (Because heaven knows I can't scrap and chat at the same time!) Then at 8:30pm ET we will meet in the chat room and gab about all sorts of fun stuff going on in your lives. And don't forget to post your layout in the Sketch Gallery so that we can all OOOH and AAAAH over them! (Disclaimer: By professing that the sketch crop is the best on the block, I am saying that Marnie and I's tag-team approach is the best out there. I'm not saying that my sketch is better than Marnie's. I wouldn't dream of trying to oust the queen of sketches! I'm very contented to be her princess in training. LOL ) Okay! Like I said before you now have your own folder in my filing system, just for your sketches.!!!! I'm looking forward to the sketch tonight.. Hopefully we'll get the sketch soon !!! Sorry to say you don't have your very own folder, Laurel. All the sketches are dumped in to one happy sketches folder. Yours hang out with Marnies on my hard drive. Counting down the hours... Laurel Lakey Posted January 25, 2008 Author Share Posted January 25, 2008 The easiest way to rebuild the layout is to use the shapes as guidelines to make your own shapes on a new layer. If you're using PS or PSE, just use a circle shape on a new layer and you'll have the individual shapes ready to go. For the photo part, it's just a rectangle and the accent papers are rectangles as well. Then you can even delete or fill in the template layer and make it your background. Does that make sense? It's hard to design a template that doesn't have overlapping areas on it, near impossible to get an interesting one. So it's easiest to use the sketch as a guide instead of a direct template.
