yesmur
I purchased the SG bows "biggie" where you get templates of the pieces of bows and put them together. I have been trying to apply color to them and they look flat with no "satin" or "dotted" look. Could someone please help?? Thanks, Cindy

CRS
Oh, I love these bows. This is how I recolor them. I create a new layer above the bow layer. Then I create a clipping mask (control+G in PSE). This will color the bow, but leave it flat. If you change the blending modes, the details will come through. I especially like multiply and overlay modes. You can scroll through all the modes and see which effect you like best. Good luck and have fun playing. yesmur
Which program are you using Cindy? I'm sorry, I am using PSE 5.0. I'm new at this. Soon I'll get the hang of it.
ManiakMama
Another way to recolor them is to adjust the Hue/Saturation. If you do Ctrl+U the window will open. Be sure to click the "Colorize" box, and then you should be able to play with the Hue, Saturation and Lightness sliders until you get the color you're going for. HTH! satippetts
You can also adjust them by going to to adjust color > Variations, which I think is found under the menu option of enhance. I could be wrong, it's been a while since I've been on PSE. But you can then go through and click the various colors adding more red, yellow or blue to create the color you want as well as darken or lighten it. I like this option better than the hue slider as I can get a more true color for what I want. You could then later adjust the saturation to more or less, or use the levels to intensify the shadows or highlights. I also do the clipping mask and blending modes like Carla mentioned. I use the hue saturation method as well but before I recolour I duplicate the layer, hide that top layer, colour the bottom one, unhide the top one again and then use the blending modes to bring out the details.
