First of all, I just want to thank everyone who participated in January's Swap Crop! The layouts are fabulous! Don't forget to send your partner a copy of the high resolution file!

In the chat, most people were happy to have the swap crop monthly. I'd like to hear from everyone, especially those who couldn't make the chat or couldn't participate this month. I know some of you would like it more frequently, but I'm afraid we'd all burn out, lol!

I'm also interested in hearing what themes you'd all like to swap. If you have any suggestions, feel free to post them.

You'll be happy to know that Karen (Kazbar73) has agreed to help me out with the chat next month and we'll let you know the theme and dates very soon!

So, put your thinking caps on and let's hear your ideas!

As for themes, i dont know! lol. You could almost do any challenge idea .... but i found i had to share pictures of my kids for the nature ones, all i take photos of are my kids...

What about, the hardest, swap ourselves? Have our partner scrap a page about us?

Thanks Carla, this was really fun! I can't wait for the next one!! :D

I have never participated in a swap crop, but I think I would really like it.

I voted for once a month. That way you have time to recoup and work on some of your own LO's! LOL!

As for themes, something along the lines of love or family would be nice, but not sure what exactly....spouses, but not everyone has one....kids, but not everyone has those either.....so maybe family in general? Could be immediate or maybe extended....maybe older family photos or something?

Angela mentioned doing a theme of ourselves and that might be hard a little hard, but I think it would be fun. I don't think I would ever do a LO of myself, but it would be neat for someone else to do it. We could fill out a little questionnaire or something to give enough details to do a LO.

Karen mentioned ice cream......Oh....ICE CREAM....that would be fun! I love ice cream. I actually have some pictures from this past summer from one of the many times we went to Bruster's Ice Cream.

Anyway, if I think of something good I will be sure to post it......

I look forward to seeing what you decide, Carla. Whatever it is I am sure it will be lots of fun!

I think the thing is... well... Id like to see the themes fit around something we might already have photos of. While themes like ice cream and all are fun. Im so busy, i dont have time to run to the store, and fix up a photo shop of my favorite. What i like about the swaps, is that i get some of those past photos done... a little more caught up with the help of my partner.

Course we could always do the ice cream, and if i cant run and get it.... i could figure something to fit.... But like this time, i didnt have any strict nature photos. But i had photos around animals of my girls. I hope my partner didnt really mind that i didnt have some gorgeous photos like you all have.

Okay... rambling on again! lol

LOL I think i confused you all.

I ment have your partner do the layout of you! so, if Carla was my partner, id send her my picture, and some information about me or the photo. And have her do the work!!!

I thought that would be cool, because we are so critical about ourselves....

Thanks Carla. I had so much fun with this swap and can't wait till the next. One idea I had was your favourite ice-cream but I will put my thinking cap on and see what I can come up with. Great swap ladies and awesome layouts. Everyone deserves a huge pat on the back. Now off to leave some love in the gallery.

Themes... kind of hard because you don't want to leave anyone out...

Some thoughts:

heritage layouts...

how 'bout our Sr. pictures? We could journal about our view of life at the time, or where we are now looking back...etc.

how 'bout a seasonal theme... i.e. Spring is right around the corner

how 'bout a great love... could be for our S.O., or a child, or our first love, or even a hobby

how 'bout a hobby? digi-scrapping springs to mind, or photography, or crafting in general

how 'bout a Spiritual/philosophical theme? What truths do we view our lives by?

how 'bout a literary one? Would work for our children and what they are into... or ourselves and what we read

how 'bout those treasured items around the house? Would people know why you keep that one particular so&so?

how 'bout collections? what do you or someone you love collect and why...

how 'bout fears? what scares you? what is your phobia?

I voted for monthly too. For the themes, it's difficult. It should be something everybody has pictures of it. Thinking, thinking .... still thinking.

I voted for monthly as well. As to themes, it is hard when so many people need to produce photos of the same topic. However, sometimes layouts are not about the photos. I did a challenge last week on "Favorite Song". I ended up including a photo of myself at age two, just because it seemed to work with the song, but I think the page would have worked just as well without it, and it is one of my favorite pages I have ever done.

Well I voted for bi-monthly but thats only because I have lots of time on my hands.

I like what Angela brought up. The only problem is I'm the one who takes all the photos and I don't like to be photographed, so it would be tough for me. But I also like the twist PattyAnne put on the theme too! You could do alot with this theme! I will do any theme , I really had a good time with the crop and I loved listening to all of you chatting away last night ! so, thank you Carla, I had a blast and am looking forward to next months.

I voted for monthly - but even bi-monthly for those of us that work full time maybe. I didn't have time to participate in this latest one but I did do a couple before - the first where we swapped pics of ourselves and did out the questionaire, the second we swapped pics of where we lived. It was fun. Oh, and we swapped one about pets before too!

Some ideas.... justpattyanne had some great ones! I like the idea about some item in your home that is special - that would be easy to snap a pic of. There's always the usual - family, kids, pets etc. I almost always scrap my dd - I find it hard to do a LO about anything else for some reason. So if one of these were to scrap pics of something else - that would be a challenge for me. But that could be a good thing! Never hurts to try something different.

Whatever the theme of the next one, I'm really hoping I can participate!

I also voted for once a month.

Themes:

Our #1 Most Favorite picture of ourself - what a range that could be from childhood to now.

Seasonal or Holiday - that would work for almost every month

Favorite Vacation Pictures - again from any era

I love brainstorming!

I voted for Monthly - I couldn't commit to last month as I was busy with other stuff, but it looked like lots of funny - I think Patty Anne came up with lots of ideas.

Just not a lot of kid photo here - remember some of us are past the little kid age - I have some grand kids - but even some of them are getting past the little "cute" kid phase and are on to dating boys.

I guess I could pull out some old ones of them, but no current ones.

Also, maybe some vintage or grandma, grandpa ones.

I also like to see just feet, hands or backward shots those are so cool.

And, I know you just did nature, but animals, nature, flowers, there is so much outside to photograph.

We did this not that long ago. I scrapped Julie-Scrapaholic and she scrapped me. It was fun, but challenging. I don't think I'm up for that again just yet.

I vote for food. People don't take enough photos of food and it's about high time we started. ;)

I'm on a diet Zaz, do you want to scrap my shakes, bars and some fruit, and for dinner these tiny meals are so little they are microscopic. But, I guess you could enlarge them and make them look more enticing with filters and stuff.

I like the general idea of animals. That way if someone has no pets, no problem! It's not hard to take a photo of a butterfly on a flower, or horses in a field, dolphins at a waterpark, etc. Bet we all have one or two of those type shots.

I also like other more GENERAL topics:

Vacation

Water

Beauty

Favorites

etc.

This way, not matter WHAT your lifestyle, we all have photos to fit. AND. . .I think it would be fun to see the various TYPES of photos we'd get under the general topics. For instance, water could mean a waterfall, the ocean, a bath, a rainy afternoon, etc.

Or ... is the point of this crop to HAVE specific photos?

Hi, ladies!!! I wish I could have made it to the chat last night ... I know I missed a great time! Karen, again, thank you sooooo much for making my photos look like masterpieces!!!! I had so much fun working on your pictures ... I keep looking back at them. I hope you are as proud of them as I am.

As for new ideas .... What about a favorite food or dish ... I know this would probably require most of us taking a picture of it, but wouldn't that be fun? Maybe plan this one in advance to know that it was coming up??? I don't know ... is that lame? I'm kind of rethinking it.

Idea number two ... what we like to do for RECREATION .... whatever we do as a family or just for fun, could be by ourselves or with someone ... but what we like to do for fun. Thank could be good!!!

Sorry, Zaz ... I just read your post .... I was reading the ones prior and then and jumped down and realized I skipped a few ... Sorry!!!! :banghead: I have a killer headache this morning and I am not firing on all cylinders yet today ... :( I agree about the food ... it would cause us to take more photos .... that's what this is all about right???

Oh, these are some great ideas, just what we needed! I've come up with a few ideas, too. The next swap will be in February. Still working on the theme. I'm partial to wide open topics vs. more specific just so more people can participate and there is a wider range of photos.

Keep those ideas coming!

Oh, a good photograph can make anything look good. And filters are fun, too. A diet is a good story for a layout, too. :) I don't diet. Look at the word - die with a t. No thank you. ;)

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't diet either...I call it a lifestyle change...changing habits in how we eat, how we do our portions and still be able to eat what we like only in smaller amounts...now thats a lifestyle change NOT a diet!

LOL Zaz! I love food, cooking, and baking so I cringe at the word diet - now I know why! D I E with a T! That's awesome - I'll have to remember that! :D

I voted for once a month - I think that's realistic and doable. Pattyanne had some great ideas - very general & I agree with Karen about keeping themes geberal. It'll be easier to exchange pix!

I like Launa's idea from a post or two up & Angela's idea of scrapping each other - let's face it, we'll be left out of our own albums if we don't scrap ourselves!! Everyone will wonder who took the great photos & made the beautiful LOs!

What about scrapping the basic "rules" of design? Like color, pattern, rule of thirds, shape, scale, etc... Not only would any pix work, but anyone who joined up could practice their design skills?! It might be very challenging for many SGs - but I'm confident we'd get tons of help. I usually shy away from things that'll make me think too much (the reason I didn't even attempt the TOD)! WDY'allT?

When I voted for bi-monthly, it was under the assumption that it meant every other month. :)

Doesn't it? If it was twice a month, wouldn't that be bi-weekly?

Oh. Suddenly my brain hurts. I'm on overload as it is. ;)

I thought bi-monthly meant every other month too.

I know for me ... I would love to get an "All About Me" type of an album made for my kids but it always gets pushed to the back burner so I can try to keep up with all of my other projects. As always ... Mom gets bypassed in favor of everything else. :P So ... I like the idea of different Life Moments type LOs.

I thought so- so I looked it up-- not sure why it gave both definitions. I can believe that dictionary was wrong. No problem. :D

I have a little less time so I voted bi-monthly. However, I have really enjoyed the swaps and hope to participate all I can. The only suggestion I could think of was to do our childhood. Most people have at least one photo. Whatever you choose will be great I am sure. Thank you so much for all the effort that went into making the swap such fun!
