Okay...I tried my hand at making a signature.

But I can't figure out how to get it from my computer files to the

spot where I can update my signature. It say's insert image but

asks for a URL.

What am I missing here???

Thanks

You have to upload the image first du your gallery and copy the image link of your gallery page to the place you edit your signatures.

Does this make sense?

Yup, You have to have your image file on the web. Lots of ppl have different ways. You can put it in your gallery, on your own website, or blog, or even places like photo bucket. Once its there, click on it to view... then right click over the image and chose "copy image location"

then when your in your signature options, you place your curser where you want it to show, click on the button that looks like a orange sunset, and then do "ctrl v" to paste the location. Hit enter... then update signature.

Sometimes it takes a few minutes to update all over the messageboard.

I was thinking something along those lines...

I wasn't sure if the copied link would be for the pic (signature) itself

or the whole page. lol

Thanks...one more question....when I made it, I was playing with 4inch by 2inch.

What size does it need to be?

lol... i havnt quite figured out size! I uploaded "angela" and resized it like a dozen times... finally gave up on that size.

**i just looked in psp, "angela" is 300 x 96 pixels. But somehow its 28.340 resolution.. weird!!

Oh and save it as a png if you want transparency ...

I saved my image as png in PSE5, deleted the white background to be transparent and then File/Save for web. Then I used PNG-24 as image type transparency clicked on. I reduced the size to a lower %. On the bottom is a button to click view in web there you can see the real web-size. Once I was happy with the result I saved this image, uploaded it to my SG gallery.

The link I copied to the signature update is the http image link on the right side of the page in the gallery under Hotlinking & BBCode.

I don't know if this is going to help you. Hope so.

Oh, Peppi, Peppi. LOL I'm sitting here laughing.

I'll have to sit here and slowly read your reply several times and see

if I follow all of this "computer talk." LOL

I'm going to post my little siggy to the gallery then see if I can get it over to

my siggy spot.

Thanks.

LOL didn't know this computer talk one month ago. My DH has also problems to follow me sometimes. This is something I have learned by reading all the threads on the MB.

The tip with save for web, I've got it from Bethany (sthrnbelle05).

Woohoo!!!!!!

:bouncing-frog:

I did it!!!!!

:breakdance:

Sorry for posting the signature in the gallery so many times.

I finally saw the "save to web" or "save for web" option in my software and made it smaller.

And about the "transparency" choice....when I saved it with a transparent background...ScrapGirls has an automatic light blue background. I didn't want that. So, I made a background with the color as close as I could to the Message Board screen color.

Thanks for all the help!!!!

lol Thank you. The "smiley face" made me laugh.

I like yours, too...I just don't think my handwriting is worth preserving as a siggy. lol

I have a question about signature etiquette? (sp?)

It *is* okay for me to use someone's products, right?

I'm not displaying the signature anywhere but here.
