I wanted to thank you all for all of your prayers. Things were a little more complicated than the doctors originally anticipated. The 2 hour surgery actually took them about 5 and a half hours... my poor husband was distraught. The doctor removed all of my thyroid and he also had to remove a few lymph-nodes as well. Fortunately, the cancer had only spread to one of the lymph-nodes... the others he removed for testing purposes.

After the surgery there weren't any rooms available in the hospital, so I had to wait in recovery for over 2 hours. The only thing available was a semi-private room. Not my idea of a good situation... She would sleep all day and leave her TV on all night...

I had some problems with my blood calcium level and had to stay an extra night. We finally got it stabilized and I got to come home this morning. I am so happy to be home! I feel pretty good even though I don't have much of a voice yet (that's a side effect of this surgery). I'll be glad to have my voice back.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for all of your prayers and good thoughts. I have felt everyone of them.

I'm glad to hear that you feel quite ok and everything went fine. I will keep you in my prayers for a total recovery soon. Well, for the MB you don't need much voice, but I hope your voice is coming back quickly.

Kelly,

I've been thinking of you. Thanks for letting us know you are finally home! I'm sorry things were a bit more complicated that originally thought, but it does sound as if everything was taken care of properly. And I'm glad they kept you an extra day to stabilized. Your family is worried enough about you as it is, and if you'd gone home too early and something had gone awry it would have caused them extra angst!

And I'm glad that even if you don't have your voice, you are still able to come to the computer and visit with us. We'll be here all during your recovery. Whenever you need us. And of course, our prayers for your quick and complete recoverly will continue.

So glad to have you back home!

Kelly, I am so relieved to hear from you --- I'm so glad to hear that you are home and on your way to recovery, it is always nice to be home and in your own bed (but I'm glad they kept you until everything was stablized). I will continue to keep you and your entire family in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm so glad you're home, Kelly. Now you just have to concentrate on healing. Take it easy. Come here if you need to "talk" or just want to smile a bit. I tell silly jokes in case you need one. :)

Still praying for you and your family!

Hi Kelly! I just dropped in on your profile to find the original post about your surgery because I missed it the first time. You have such a positive outlook and that is so inspiring. I am glad you are home and doing well. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am so glad you are home Kelly! I've been thinking about you a lot! I'm sorry the surgery was more involved than you expected. Hopefully your doctors took care of everything that needed taking care of and you'll be the pillar of health from now on. I totally know what you mean about the semi-private room (try not at all private ... that curtain does nothing!) I had the same problem a couple of years ago. I went home a day earlier than I should have because I just couldn't take it any more!

I'm going to pray for your complete and rapid healing! And I'll be looking forward to seeing you around - hopefully soon!
Get Well Soon Sweetie!

So thankful that you are home and doing better. Take it easy and get yourself all the way well. Fortunately, talking to us won't wear on your voice too much. You and your family are still in my prayers.
