It's so hard when children hurt and you can't stop the pain. Glad the medicine helped. I'll say a prayer that this is over and that Mom can get caught up on some sleep, too! Maybe everyone can get a nap today!

My goodness, Carol! Missed this thread last night, but I'm in the prayer group this morning. I've had infected taste buds and it isn't fun. Let us know how you all are doing. :bighug: :bighug:

I just saw this Zaz and I will be praying that all is well with all of you ! You all have had alot on your plate recently. I hope you all settle into your new routine quickly and relatively painless !!! It could be a small cut on his tongue also, if thats the case keeping cold stuff on it will help it heal. I wouldn't give him anything spicy for awhile !! But thats just my 2cents worth.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner Zaz. I'm glad he's doing better. I've had canker sores on my tongue at times and they can be very painful.

I found that when most of the toothpastes added whitening capabilities to their formulas that that was causing me mouth sores. I've finally found one that doesn't bother me.

Well, he's definitely better this morning. He's not screaming or crying anyway. For awhile last night, he would sleep and then wake up 30 minutes later screaming. We got some popsicle stuff on his tongue and that would help for a while. The nurse I spoke to didn't think we needed to give him a pain reliever, but I did. And then he slept through the night. Janae, on the other hand, woke me up three times. *sigh* ;)

Thanks for the prayers. The dot on his tongue is still there. I think it's just not mad at the moment. This all started last night when Zay brushed his teeth. I'm off to make him a nice, soft breakfast now. :)

So glad things are better this morning - you might want to consider a change in toothpaste???

See what I Googled: http://www.carle.com/CCA/askthedoctor/rece...1&qID=Q1489

I'm an ex-RN and never heard of that phenomenon so I had to research! Hope it is helpful in finding cause.

Praying for you all!

I think it was the chili we had for dinner that actually caused the irritation in the first place. The toothpaste he uses is actually for toddlers and has no caustic stuff in it. I'm betting he brushed his tongue. His preschool hasn't called me today (yet) so I'm thinking he must be doing fairly well. :)

I need a nap, though. Janae doesn't seem a bit tired. *sigh*

Glad to hear he's feeling better. Hope you can sneak in a nap, or maybe your house will just get to bed nice and early tonight.

Well, there's a novel idea, April! Early to bed! Hmm...wonder if I can talk the DH into helping me out with that. ;)

Janae is sleeping. I flopped on Isaiah's bed for 10 minutes so that helped a little. I'm trying to get my dishes done and the floor swept while she's sleeping. Oh and I'm also trying to download all the cool things my Secret Pal sent me just a bit ago. I'm beyond excited and no longer feeling really tired. I just want to play. And still no call from Isaiah's preschool. Yippee! We're having mac and cheese tonight (no chili for him) so that should be a happy thought for his tongue. :D

Thanks all for the prayers! I really do think they helped. It was weird. He was screaming one minute and the next he was asleep in my arms. And I know the meds hadn't kicked in yet. I think God just likes to hear from Scrap Girls. ;)

Sorry Carol, wasn't on last night to see this one, but I am glad he is doing better, and that Janae took a nap, so at least you could get some rest. Mac and Cheese sounds good to me, but I love Chili too.

We'll be eating in about an hour. See if you can get here by then. I'll set an extra place at the table. Be warned, though. We have fresh snow and it's rather warm (upper 20s) so the roads might not be the best. Still, I can always reheat some leftovers for you if you are a bit late. :)

~Zaz
P.S. Waiting to see Zay in a few minutes so I will officially know how that tongue is doing. :D

Well, we're evidently not over this weird tongue thing yet. Everything tastes bad to Zay (no mac and cheese for him) :( and he woke up a bit ago screaming again. I couldn't understand him so I picked him up and carried him down the stairs (he's just under 50 lbs - thank God for adrenaline). He wasn't really awake, but he was obviously in pain. We got him some medicine and he's snoring again. Taste buds live about 7-14 days. I'm hoping a few new ones move into his mouth soon. He's gonna be a hungry boy in the morning. :(

If you see this, could you just say another prayer for my little sweetie? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks! :)

Of course! Did you get a chance to try some ora-jel or sore throat numbing spray on him? Do they help?

I'm hopping up and down here; I wish I were there to help!

Big hugs to all of you!

The best thing about kids is no matter how much they won't eat...they never starve! He'll get through this. Just give him the pain reliever before bed and first thing in the morning. It will pass...

Hang in there Carol Ann!

Praying tonight is a better night for you and Zay! Tongue ailments are sooo painful, poor guy.....I have found that even Sweet & Low and some other sugar substitutes cause irritation, or at least aggravation of a sore tongue.

Hugs and prayers,
Cathy
