Small Square Albums

Really want to try the 8 x 8 or 6 x 6.
For those of you that have been making them, how many pages do they
hold for a nice display.
Thought maybe you could help before I start - wondered if I would be limited on pages because of the size.
I just think they would be a nice petite size and while experimenting 8 x 8 is really not that small.
Any suggestions or advice would help.
Thank you :dancingchicken:

You will really like the 8x8 size. I made a 12x12 scrapbook with about 30 pages in it and then reprinted it in the 8x8 size. I almost like it better in the 8x8 size as it's easier to handle.

You can add about as many pages as you would a 12x12 album. Just add extenders.

As a side note, my daughter took all her 8x8 albums to college with her and left her 12x12 at home. Much easier to store and to share.

Good luck!

I always did 12x12 albums until, in desperation, I did an 8x8 album. I needed a quick Father's Day gift for my dad and didn't have time to have Costco print out my LO's 12x12, so I ran to Staples and got some 8-1/2x11 paper and to Michaels' to get an 8x8 album. I have to say, it is unlikely I'll EVER print 12x12 again. 8x8 is just stunning and the smaller size makes them easier to look through, pass around to others, etc.

Most 8x8 albums come with 10 pages to hold 20 LOs. You can easily add about 10 more pages so each one can hold about 40 LOs. Unless you do a lot of really thick paper LOs. Then, you might only be able to ft 20 to 30 max.

Out of curiosity, has anyone found a limit to the number of photos that can be on an 8 x 8 page? I can get 5 or 6 on a 12 x 12 without oo much problem, but I imagine with the smaller size, the number of photos for optimal viewing would be fewer. Opinions?

Here, here with 8x8! I made a 'blank' wedding scrapbook for my nephew this afternoon with Mandy Steward's Whitewashed wedding at 8x8. It was fast and fun. I love the size of the book. They fit on shelves!

I have a bunch of 12x12 albums that I don't know what to do with. From now on, I'm only printing or doing 12x12 if I happen to have things that are simply too big for 8x8!

As far as photos? Hmmm... that would depend on the size, probably. I usually like my layouts to have one focus photos and a bunch of smaller photos so I think that I would probably have one on one page and then put the smaller ones on the page next to it - that is when I scrap with paper.

For my newer photos - that I take with my digital camera, I scrap them digitally anyway and then print out the layout and so I can do whatever I want. Does that make sense?

You want to hear something weird, though? I used to scrap all of the time - back in the days when I was paper scrapping at 8.5x11. But when I went to 12x12, I slowed down terribly. Everything was SO much more expensive to do! The albums were more expensive. The page protectors were way more expensive! The pages took more embellishments... and on and on... I was always running out of everything - and that is despite me spending a ton on everything.

But now that I have gone to smaller sizes again and also, since I began digital scrapping, too, I am scrapping fast again and it is a lot more fun.

Can't explain why... There was just something about that big HUGE square of paper that made it harder for me to think!

You can either upload your files to Costco's website or take a CD into the store. They need to be in JPG format.

I started with 8x8, because I could print them at home, but I do a LOT of journalling in my LOs, and there is a bottom limit for readable text - I couldn't say everything I wanted and have viewable pictures in a smaller LO. My eyes aren't that great, either - I like to blow up my pictures as big as they can print clearly.

I now put my LOs on a stick drive and take them to Recollections - they print out 12x12 for $1.79 a sheet, and my Mrs. Grossman's album has about 80 LOs in it done this way, and I think could easily hold double that.
