I'm totally new to digital scrapbooking...
havent started my first page yet!

I'm getting a copy of PSE 2.0 from my dad, but I also see that 3.0 is out.
is 3.0 that much better? Will I be frustrated w/ 2.0 or is it OK for a beginniner?

also, do you have to have a wide format printer to pring 12 x 12,or do most of you use 8 1/2 x 11 sheets? just curious what most people do here. I dont have a printer that can print 12x12.

thanks everyone! You've been most helpful! :dancingchicken2:

Hi Miss Sassafras! Welcome to the wonderful world of scrapping!

There are some cool differences between PSE 2 and 3, but a lot of it is cosmetic, and not major "i couldn't do that before" changes. All of the big, necessary tools are in v.2 as well as v.3.

As for printing, I think most of the people who don't have a wide format printer print their LOs out in 8x8 size. It's a nice compact size, but big enough to still see the layout well.

HTH!

The biggest change I'm aware of is the organizer. I couldn't live without it. I use organizer to organize all my kits by item, designer, etc. If I want to find a photo corner, I could never remember what kit folder it was in and I could spend hours looking through folders. Instead, I tag it as a photo corner in PSE3 Organizer and then go into the Corners tag and thumbnails of everything with that tag is right there for me to easily find. I also tag by color so if I want a blue background, I can just click on that tag and find all blue backgrounds. And if I submit for publication, I can easily find the name of the designer in the Organizer.

As far as printing goes, I have submitted mine to an online printing place and am having them printed out at 8x8. I always intended to print 12x12, but after I printed mine at 8-1/2 by 11 at home and trimmed them down to 8x8, I decided I like that size so much better that I'm sticking with it. By having them printed online instead of at home, they come pre-trimmed to the size I want. That saves me tons of work and is worth the little bit of extra money it costs.

There are a lot of online sources, but I use scrapbookpictures.com. They charge $1.99 for each 8x8. Since printer paper for my printer is $1.00 a sheet plus the cost of ink, it's only slightly more expensive to do it online and I save the wear and tear on my printer.

There are a ton of 8x8 albums out there. I don't have a preference. There are just so many and any will work. Most come with inserts for 20 printed pages with add-on packs of 10 additional sheets for 20 more pages.
