You know what? Maybe it will help to know that some of my immediate family members and my husband family's members consider Scrap Girls to be some "little hobby site" I have. They have no concept that I am running a real business and won't even bother to come out here and see for themselves what it is. They roll their eyes if anyone even mentions it. (I'm sure they think I need to get a 'real' job.)
So it happens... I think it is often hardest for the people who are closest to us to open their eyes and see who we are.
You keep trying and believing.

Wow, thanks Ro. My mom thinks any money I spend on scrapbooking, genealogy, quilting, knitting, i.e. anything I think is fun, is unnecessary. She does always say I'm talented at it, at least once a day. I told my mom about my job and she didn't say much, she thinks I can't make any money off of it. But I think I can. And that's what counts. It's like if we have a job that's fun we aren't taken seriously. Go figure. I like the idea with putting negative stuff in the box. I was just having fun being sarcastic making myself feel better and it turned into a really great idea.

My suggestion to put the hurt feelings in the box comes from reading I did about adoption. Adopted grieve the loss of their birth parents, and may never have answers. One technique is to put things in a box that represent their feelings or questions that they have. For example, one could put in birthday candles if one wonders if the parents think about them on their birthday.
