Luvmy2boyz
I'm sure that I'm just a real latecomer on this one but just in case I wanted to post about this!! I've been trying to think of the best way to categorize my alphas. It was easy when the alpha came w/ a preview sheet...just tagged it. BUT MOST of my alphas do NOT come w/ a preview. WELL, ACDSee can do this for you so easily AND QUICKLY!! The same would apply for the kits that don't have a preview as well (Instead of searching the site for a preview)!! So when I've gone into an alpha folder, I just do ctrl A to higlight all > and then click on 'create' > then click on contact sheet in the drop down menu. I save the contact sheet the same as my alpha folder that I"m creating the preview for and save it to the folder. Then, I tag the preview. So simple!! LOVE IT!! Again, I'm probably way behind in the game but I'm so darn excited that i just had to share my find anyway!! Thanks again to everyone who gave their tips and advice on the orgnisers!! I'm sure it will help a lot of people who don't know it yet. So thanks for sharing!

Wendee-CreativeSparkle
I haven't tried ACDSee but that sounds really neat. Maybe I'll have to check it out further. Thanks for the info!
Tink
that sounds like an awesome tool. I don't use acdsee. Just downloaded picassa & I am not sure I like it. I had all my pics in organized folders & it reorganizes them (in picassa)... can't find anything. UGH. And I can't hold a few items & then open them all up in cs3, have to open one by one... what's the point? Does Acdsee organize as well? can you tag items? Maybe I will check it out & see if that will work better. tfs

Can you also add keywords like bridge? & are the views of the files with in the folders better than bridge? :justthinkingabout it: Yes, you CAN add keywords, notes, author info, ratings and tags. The views are MUCH better than Bridge, imho. This ended up a decision b/n Bridge and ACDSee. For me, the views were better and the speed was a really welcome difference!! I found that Bridge really wasn't as quick as I had hoped w/ 2gig of ram. JMO... You should dl the free trial and play around to see...There is also a great site for help and tutorials for ACDSee digiscrapinfo I ALSO love that you can view your fonts in this program AND your ABR files. The latter good news for anyone who is using VISTA and can no longer use their ABR viewer due to compatibility issues!! Dee

photomom
Most photo editing software has a contact sheet option under picture packages. I know PS CS3 does - under File / Automate / Contact sheet. You can make the images any size you want. Nice feature to have.
Luvmy2boyz
photomom - yes, I knew I could do it CS3 as well.. Actually, you can do it in Bridge too, if you get right down to it! LOL But I find Bridge bogs things down so I went to ACDSee for organizing. Anyway, I just find it so easy to do this while organizing files, kwim? Also, personally, I like doing it in ACDSee MUCH better. It's quicker for me, while organizing, because I'm in the folder already and don't have to navigate to find what you are looking to add to the contact sheet...also there have been times where I need to exclude something from a folder (say the TOU) beacuse I don't want to have this on my contact sheet. You can control the size of your images with the ACDSee feature too!! However you choose to create them...ITA it's so great to be able to do it!! I've found it so great with my Alphas! brattylatina
Which ACDsee are you guys using? I downloaded the photo manager trial. If I put all my stuff in there and am working in pse6 at the same time, can I drag onto my layout?
Luvmy2boyz
Which ACDsee are you guys using? I downloaded the photo manager trial. If I put all my stuff in there and am working in pse6 at the same time, can I drag onto my layout? The Trial is 10...which is what I'm using (I'm new to the program too). I have no trouble dragging files to my layout. Also, you can configure an editor(s) w/ ACDSee. Tools>Open in Editor>Configure Editors> select your editor and click on default. This way I can also send files to PS when I find them as well. HTH!!
Tink
I have a question... If I have all my keywords & ratings set in bridge & I use acdsee will it keep all those or will I have to re-do everything?
Luvmy2boyz
Are you wondering if Bridge ratings and categories are transferable to ACDSee? I'm thinking they aren't...but I'm not certain. Maybe Heidi will see this?? Heidi??
