I must confess something to you. I have been a bad girl lately and haven't been walking or taking good care of myself. I've been over working again. And I have been eating WAY too much chocolate. (Mainlining it, I could probably say.)

This means that I have been getting sick again.

Stop! Stop, I say! No. No.

So I decided that true confessions in my blog weren't going to do it and that I'd open a forum for this. To get healthy. Feel good. Maybe even lose some weight, eh?

I'd LOVE to lose 30 pounds. I'd feel a whole lot better if I would.

So I joined up with this lady's site where I can get diets and stuff and they do have a message board, but when I went on it, I was just missing you guys. Then I thought that maybe you guys would like to do it with me, too.

So do you?

We can have fun while we do it. :penguins:

Maybe some games... Maybe I can hand out prizes from the Boutique if you meet your goals or something. Maybe you can send me a funny email if I meet a goal of mine or something. Maybe we could do a circle journal about it, even.

We could scrap out way through the journey.

Are you game? :ola:

I'm with you Ro. I could stand to lose about 30 lbs and tone up a bit. I'm not sure what it is really, but it seems like after my surgery in March that the weight just doesn't want to go away, :(, so I'm in! :)

To have a friend is to have a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold and an extra pair of legs when yours are too weak to stand alone...

I have been living buried in books and writing classes... as an added note I must say that it is rather scary when you start dreaming and all you can see within your dreams is words floating everywhere!

I'm with you! My clothes would fit so much better if I could just drop 5 pounds! Ten would be heaven!

I MUST throw out this Halloween candy AUGH! Everytime I walk into the kitchen, I find myself popping candy or chocolate into my mouth!

YUCK!

I need to watch my portions, too. Out of control around here.

Okay, here's another of my hair brained ideas. You know how you always see those infomercials about losing weight, well, they always show these amazing before and after photo's that I often think must have been edited ins ome way or another, lol, anyhow, here's my idea. I'm going to set the camera to auto and take a few photosd of the before, and then after I reach my goal I'll take a few more of the after, lol. Sound crazy or no?

This is what I have had to make myself do. I spend ALL my time in front of a computer, either here or at work. SO I decided I had to "earn" computer time by walking around the block. One walk around the block (which takes about 10 mins) buys me 1 hour on the computer. That way in a day I could get as much as 2 1/2 hours of walking in. Realistically, will this happen?? We'll see!

I like your "earning" computer time idea...
I think that mine will be that until I walk at least 20 minutes, NO COMPUTER FOR ME AT ALL! That way I'll be forced to walk after work or before work if I get here early. I work at our county's landfill and it's up here in the woods and it's just beautiful. I can walk all the way down to the retention pond and back in half an hour. Or I can stop at the ice rink on the way home and walk their walking track. I WILL do this!!!!

I understand that. I spend over 12 hours a day in front of a computer. I really have to force myself to leave it but I am going to try.

Count me in! I need to lose about 30 lbs, too. I've committed to walking our new puppy daily, as soon as he gets his second set of shots (next week). That will force me to get movin'!
Have a great day ~ make it count!

:justthinkingabout it: OK. I'll join in. I've fallen so very far down the rabbit hole, I have to start somewhere! I'm so ashamed to admit how bad I am. I used to do Jazzercise 3-5 days a week; I even danced non-stop for 1.2 miles in a 4th of July parade in 94 heat.
Then I broke my foot and I haven't really worked out since. I developed a sharp heel spur on my left foot just over a year ago and I can barely walk 100 yards without pain. I'm switching podiatrists, my husband pointed out that I'm better off having surgery, being in pain and hobbling around for 6-8 weeks, rather than go another YEAR being in pain and hobbling around all the time! In any case, I know full well I can workout without being on my feet. :situps: I also did yoga for quite a while and there are many poses not depending you to stand. Without going into a full blown sob story, I had some personal problems and being a life-long emotional eater, I've managed to become about 130 lbs overweight. Yep, I've eaten an entire other person! :scale:

So, I'll go and change my signature now to show the horrifying truth!! :shycouch:

What a great idea this is ;) I'm gonna do my best to follow in,and I simply love the idea of earning time infront of my computer! I have talked about walking for so long now, so it's time to do something about it!

You don't have to yell at me today! AFter work yesterday, I walked the dog (I take her to work sometimes) down to the end of the landfill access road and back. Took us about 1/2 an hour.
But, alas, no water!!!! But I just finished my huge diet soda from McDonald's this morning, so since reading the posts and realizing that I didn't do the water thing... I'm going to get a glass right now!!!!!

Yay, Kate! Good for you - it's those small baby steps. Sometimes trying to get ALL things perfectly get us derailed. Well, it does for me, anyhow. But at least you got your walk in - good job!
Have a great day ~ make it count!

Okay, I'm in too! Actually, I had the same sort of ephiphany the other day - ALL I do is work work work work and then work some more. I'm exhausted and drink too much coffee in the morning and a bit too much wine to sleep. I never exercise and I can pretend I look as good as I did in 2002 when I weighed 140 and worked out 4 days a week and walked to work in downtown Seattle (think HILLS!), but who am I kidding? 165 is 165....and I'm a non-toned 165 at that...

SO! I tried to login the other and day hop on board, but the login was wonky...

BUT - I did join Curves last Friday - thanks for the motivation RO! I worked out Saturday, and today and plan to go every morning after I drop my oldest at school. The workout goes quick and the environment is very friendly. I've also returned to my Atkins ways - although I'm a bit more South Beach - I try to watch the cheese and fat of what I eat as well (in other words, I try to skip the half and half and bleu cheese dressing...)

I'm babbling...but very happy to have a place to chat about this. I'm on ediets as well and well, YAWN...too many people, too whatever...

Hubby wants baby number two and I said...emphatically...I simply MUST be at 140 before we even consider it...

:)
Current weight: 156
Goal weight: 140
Current status of drinking water: Bought a case of Pelligrino at Costco - I'm drinking 2 - 3 a day. Yum!
Short-range goal for drinking water: keep it up and stop worrying about peeing all the time (did I just say that? )
Current status of exercising: CURVES! Monday - Friday
Short-range goal for exercising: 30 minutes a day
Current status eating plan: Jenny Craig - week 5
Short-range goal for eating plan: see above
Current status of relaxing activities (things just for me): What the heck is this? Are you kidding?
Short-range goal for relaxing activities: Wow. I'll need to think on this one...

Oh boy is this the place for me!!! 2 days ago DH set up a wireless network in our house, so for the first time in 2 years I HAVE MY OWN INTERNET CONNECTION!!! I spent so long on it yesterday that my eyes were bright red and sore

So, I am definately in for the "earning computer time", (since it is clearly going to take over my life if I don't!) and walking will be my exercise of choice. The nice people here where I live finally opened a supermarket that I can walk to, so this is my plan.

Thanks for the great ideas guys :2468who-do-we-appreciate:

I too spend too much computer time at work and home at nite. I am starting my fitness program now too. I use Calorie King, but do not use the forums only the awesome tools.

Count me in... I have about 20 pounds to lose since the baby, and with halloween and the holidays this is the hardest time for me to lose it :) (Love them xmas cookies!!!) I have been trying to get myself to walk everyday, but it hasn't gone well. Maybe getting to post about it will help :)

I'm in here too!! I really need to lose about 75 pounds. I was just looking at pix of myself before I was married, had my first child, and life got awful--I was so thin & fit. I get disgusted with myself & think I WILL watch portions, eat healthier food, and exercise....and that lasts about 4 days if I'm lucky. Usually about a minute after I promise myself to get healthy, I say heck with it & go for a snack. I never used to be an emotional eater but something changed after having my first child & now not only do I emotional (stress) eat, but it all sticks with me & adds up. In a week or so I'm inheriting my MIL's elliptical & a couple other pieces of exercise stuff as they're moving into an apartment & can't take it with them so between that stuff & the ton of exercise videos I already own (but have never really used) I'm hoping I can at least get moving & get healthier. Maybe I need to try that idea I saw someone else post--I have to "earn" computer time.

I did it! I went to my first real training session at the gym! In case you didn't know, I finally worked myself up to buy a two year membership (and got a third for free because I paid cash) at Gold's Gym. And then to make the whole thing more painful, I signed up for a years work of personal training twice a week.

I am such a cheapskate that there is NO way that I'm wasting that money so as hard as it was to peel myself away from the computer, I made myself do it. I have appointments with my trainer - Ammon - and ewwww.... I can't just not show up! That would be rude.

So I have tricked myself into going, see?

It was kind of fun, actually, because he was there making me do it right. I get it twice a week and in between I'm going to go over there and do the eliptical or stuff like that. (They have them in a room where you can watch MOVIES at the same time - like in a theatre... Can you iimagine?)

Anyway.. After all of this whining and begging and embarrassing myself in public, I might be actually doing something about it!

I lost my first 25 lbs and have since stalled- haven't been on my bicycle since work has had me traveling so much. I really need to lose the next 25.

Let's do this.

I still get on my treadmill between 3 and 5 times a week but it hasn't done anything for weight loss for me. I'm still 30#'s over but I can only imagine how much more I'd be if I didn't get on the treadmill.
