Please join me and Shari (PV_MOM_OF_2) tonight at 9PM EST for a Desktop Chat!!!

Its still mischief week... so ... me and shari have decided we want to cook. You all have been neglecting your families with those meals? GASP .. well here is a recipe guaranteed to make them happy, or you at least.

Desktop Skillet Recipe

Ingredients
3 solid papers
1 pattern paper
5 photos
4 embies (including SS templates)
1 brush
Overlay (optional topping)

Mix papers together until you begin to experience a pleasant smell. Now
add your photos, embies and brush. Mix them all together and let them
simmer on low until they have blended perfectly.

To serve, place an overlay on top.

(from the kitchen of Angela and Shari)

Be Brave girls! You can do it! We came up with the recipe BEFORE i had any clue how interesting it would be to do it!

Here is my desktop:Mischief Recipe Desktop May
You can upload to the desktop gallery or the Mischief Gallery. Up to you, mine is in the desktop gallery.
***If you need help getting started, please look at the next post for directions!!! If you need more help, please ask on this thread, we will be happy to get you going!

PC Directions:
To get the size you need for your layout, take your mouse and right-click anywhere on your desktop. A menu will pop up, select Properties (or for Vista you will need to look in Personalize). In Properties select Settings. There you should see a sliding bar for Screen Resolution. Under that you will see something like "1440 by 900 pixels". Write that down and click Cancel.

Open your preferred scrapbook software, and open a new image. Give it the size you wrote down, make sure it is in pixels. You don't have to scrap at 300 DPI for your desktop, you can use 72 DPI for this instead.

Now your ready to scrap! Remember to account for space for visibility of your icons!

When you finish, save a COPY as a jpg. (Make sure it's a copy, you want your original in case you want to make changes). Pull up the folder you saved your JPG in, find the right file, and then right-click and choose "Set As Desktop Background".

MAC Instructions (Provided by Zaz, THANKS!):
On a Mac, if you go to System Preferences and click on Display, it will tell you what dimensions you are currently using and what is available to you (mine is currently on 1680 x 1050). It will also warn you if the size you have chosen will stretch your image.

I save my image to the desktop and change it at System Preferences (click on Desktop).

I'm in on this one! Dh has been bugging me to make a new desktop for his laptop for at least two weeks now. He wants photos of each of the kids and one of his dad on there - that's 5 photos in all.

The hard part will be to scrap it and still keep it looking, um, manly for him.

Not sure I'll make it to the chat, though. I'm not very coherant at 9pm these days (my youngest has been getting up at 4-5am daily)

Oh i can't wait to get to work on this one. I found some old pictures of my son that i've been wanting to scrap but have not been really inspired to do so..... they are goofy pictures that I think will fit in just perfectly for this challenge. Going to get to work on this one right away!

Thanks for the great challenge ladies :D

Let's see--may not make the chat (track meet, then swim board mtg.), but will have to work on the desktop.... Maybe I could do that now instead of laundry. Then my family would know I was up to mischief on my only day off this week!

OK I have to ask since I am working on mine presently.... Are we to stay within just the ingredients listed or can we through in a little more spice here and there?? eg actions, styles, create multiple copies of those 4 embelies etc.....

Some really great looking desktops out there. Here's mine.

May Mischief Desktop

I love Syndee Nuckles Mischief Maker Kit. It seemed like the perfect thing for this challenge.

I wish I could come! Got a baseball game on the docket. . . yup, pretty much every night until the second week of June. Games M,T,W,T and practices on F, and S. Ugh! No time for chats or classes or even *gasp* mischief!!!! (I have two kids who play on alternate nights.)
