[NOTE: This program has ended effective 1/8/10. If you've already submitted to a publication during January 2010 (by January 8, 2010), please email the appropriate proof (as listed below) to hello@scrapgirls.com and we'll make sure that you receive your prize for submitting.]

So many of you have been submitting great layouts, we wanted to extend and explain how its all going to work.

Once a month, I will issue you a prize following these guidelines:

- First make sure that your layout contains 100% Scrap Girls

- For every layout you submit, I will keep track. (While you are free to submit a single layout multiple times, we will only count that layout once per month)

- For Digital E-zine submissions You will still need to send to me as a BCC. If Scrap Girls is unfamiliar with the digital publication, we may ask you to help in verifying the publication. If we cannot verify that the publication is a valid online scrapbooking publication (ie ezine or newsletter), currently in product, we reserve the right not to honor the submission. You may also receive product instead of a GC for publication in an e-zine.

- At the beginning of the next month I'll begin to email your monthly prize based on those total proofs.

- Now, for the prizes. Remember though, you get one per month... :)

1-3 Submissions per/month = Brush Set
4-6 Submissions per/month = AYO product
7+ Submissions per/month = Collection or smaller

I will continue to keep updates on the "Get Published" forum to help you get submissions going!

Don't forget that if you do get published and send me proof of your Scrap Girls layout, you will receive an Prize!!!

Good luck! I know we can all do it!

Email your Submissions/proofs to:
angela@scrapgirls.com
If you email your submission, bcc me.
If your filling an online form, do a print screen showing that your layout is Scrap Girls and email the image, and a copy of your layout to me.

Thanks!
Angela N

Time to drum up some courage and try submitting again! I drool over the magazine LOs and just don't think mine stand up. Maybe one day I'll send in just the LO they want!

yes, you need to CC me the emails if you submit via email.
If you submit via an online form, i need a print screen showing the credits as SG products.

Does that help?

I have a question about what counts as a submission. I am going to do something for the PageMaps newsletter so while that is not a 'magazine' per se, would this still count as a submission? Also, in order for it to count towards the total, are we only to use SG products on the LOs?

P.S. Hope this was the correct place to post this question.

ETA: Okay, my 2nd question was answered in the main post. Guess I should read more carefully next time.

Is it ok to submit Layout A to more than 1 magazine?

Ashleigh, I'll get full clarification on digital submissions to digital publications. I'll let you know what we decide.

Roxi, absolutely you can submit layout A to many magazines. However, once a magazine selects your layout A, you cannot submit it again.

Ok, I have no idea where to post this question!

I really like this layout I did, but it was a scraplift of Pat Bowman's Wild Hair

here's mine.

Is it ok to submit it? Is this taboo? If I do submit, how do I give credit?

Christina,
You really should not submit a scraplifted layout. It is so hard sometimes, i even look at mine and have to remember not to submit them. Just remember the reason why is that the original idea came from someone else, and its not right to take credit for their work. Does that make sense?

I did see a call that asked you to scraplift one of their layouts. That would be neat....

I have a question....

I know there is the Call for Becky's Sketch for Creating Keepsakes....but would it be OK to use a sketch from one of the many books available nowadays? Does this void the 100% ScrapGirls factor? I noticed that there are so many books just featuring sketches for layouts and some of them are very simple that it's impossible for someone to not have a layout already similar to it without even having seen the sketch. I hope I'm making sense....
Anyway, this question came to mind because I was at the store the other day and there were so many of these books......seems like it's becoming popular.

For Becky's Sketch, they like you to use her sketch she provided. It gives a glimpse at all the interpetations one sketch can provide.

You can however use any sketch when doing a layout. Marnie Adams has 2 books here in the boutique that are to die for! Just when you submit your layout, make sure you give credit for the sketch.

Hey all... i had to update the guidelines.

- Update is that now i will be counting submissions differently. For every layout you submit i will count. If you submit that same layout to 4 magazines, I will only count it 1 time. HOWEVER! Please dont let that stop you from submitting that one layout over and over! It will increase your chances AND if it gets accepted you still are eligible for the 10$ GC!

Keep submitting and keep earning those prizes!

Angela

Hi Everyone! Effective immediately, Scrap Girls is making some changes to our publication submission program. We have made the decision to end the prizes for submitting layouts. We will, however, continue to offer a reward for anyone who does get published in a print scrapbook magazine or in select online publications. I'll be posting details about that separately.

If you've already submitted to a publication this month (by today's date of January 8, 2010), please email the appropriate proof (as listed in the first post in this thread) to hello@scrapgirls.com and we'll make sure that you receive your prize for submitting.

Thank you for your participation and we look forward to many of you being published in 2010!
