I purchased the inked edges tool for photoshop elements 5. I installed it finally but cannot seem to find how I can change the color the inked edges are? How to you do that?

There was a sample in a newsletter recently around 6/22 that showed ribbon being threaded through a file folder, but I cannot find a copy of this, can anyone help thanks

Hi Cindy and welcome to Scrap Girls. I'm assuming you are talking about a Style that you purchased and installed. You can't change the color of an item that has a style applied to it in the usual Adjust Hue/Saturation method. You can try Enhance>Adjust Color>Color Variations. There is a little slider to the bottom left of that screen where you can adjust the colors that it can change it too. Give that a try.

I have the June 22 newletter but I wasn't sure which layout you were referring to. There is one by Kelly Favor-Chronister that has a ribbon that runs through some openings in a frame. Is that the one you are saw? If it is, you can get that look by putting the ribbon on a layer above the frame and then erasing parts of the ribbon where it would go behind a part of the frame. If that's not it, let me know and I'll look further.

I have often changed the color of inked edges. I use photoshop, but I'm pretty sure you can dink with your styles in PSE as well. Not sure if it works the same way, but I'll go open my program and give you instructions for how I do it.

I've got these Dynamic Inky Brushes in my basket right now! I can't wait to play with them.

I just tried this with Cheryl Barber’s Inked Edges 4102.

1. Apply the style to the embellishment. I used a frame from Thao’s Naturescape Collection.

2. Then double click on the Layer Style Icon next to your embellishment in the layers palette (looks like and f in a circle).

3. Choose one of the boxes that are already checked. Inner Shadow and Inner Glow are checked for this style.

4 Adjust the color box for that effect. Click on the colored square and choose a new color.

5. Do the same for the other checked box.

You will retain the cool inked look, and just change the color. This doesn’t change your product at all, just what is on your page.

I included a little screen shot, hope this helps.

If you are using the inky brushes or the edge it action rather than a style, let us know so we can get you instructions that work. :D

The inky brushes are dynamic brushes that you can use to apply an inked edge to an element. It is neat, but not as fast as those styles, even with the fiddling. There's a reason I am a style junkie.
Happy to hear that worked for you. :)

This doesn't work in PSE 4 because we don't have the color option :monstercry:

Thanks April. I'll save this for the day I upgrade!
