Picasa Vs. Acdsee

Recommended Posts

This may be a dumb question, but I was wondering if you can use Picasa (google's free photo organizer) the same way that you us ACDSee. I downloaded the free 30 day trial of ACDSee, but I really didn't have the time to use it enough to know if I want to purchase it. I already have Picasa on my computer, and I really like a lot of the features, but I'm not sure it can be used to organize my scrapgirls stuff, etc. I did really like the control+e thing with ACDSee, and just being able to immediately open up the file in PSE. I also have all of my photos and supplies on a terastation, so naturally things move a little slower b/c it's external, so I need something that's fast. The Windows Viewer just doesn't cut it. I liked that you could see a magnified version of each image on ACDSee. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Thanks!

Picasa works great for photos and jpgs, but the problem is with PNG files. It doesn't display the transparency correctly in a transparent png file.

ACDsee displays them flawlessly and pretty fast too.

I use Picasa for my pictures and ACDSee for my scrapbooking supplies.

If you upgrade to free picasa2, you will love it! You can specify OTHER FILE FORMATS that will be visible, too.

I love the way it searches the directories you specify and lets you "SEE" so much! Great program.

(have no knowledge of acdsee however!)
