Guest Alabama Gal
I have just read the instructions on organizing scrapbooking supplies and I have a question. I have down loaded enought kits, both freebies and ones I have bought, to fill about 30 CD's. Do you go back through all your kits and seperate all of them into files such as alphas, backgrounds, etc? I haved tried to keep all sets together and have them listed by web site and name of person who made the kit. I have also tried to make a list, on paper, of what I have on each CD. Still I have to search and search to find what I want. I don't always remember which kit has what I am looking for. Wow, this is a biggie. I never dreamed I would collect so much "stuff". Would like your input. Thanks.
Wxchic
WOW! What a great question. I need to start organizing too...and I gotta tell you that I would do it BOTH ways...I'd save things to disk via designer, and then go back and sort them according to catagory and save them again. Discs are so cheap anymore...and then you would have an instant backup... I think that is what I'm gonna do...and then do it the way Ro suggested too. I'll be doing alot of burning the next few days, that is for sure...
LissaD
I just got an external Harddrive in the after Thanksgiving sales. I think it will be helpful once I organize all this stuff. I also have "designer files", I think I will burn those to disk for backup (with the origional zips). Then I am going to open up all those files, so I can use this stuff! LOL and organize one "working" file on my external HD like Ro mentioned. My Digital Image Pro Suite came with a library - where I can tag stuff and browse between folders without opening them. (cool) So in my "working file" I can tag things with labels to do my own searches. So I can tag by Collection, designer, and color, or I can just browse through all the stuff if I want. Now I just have to put that on my list of things to do! Oh for the day I could really be that organized. Well maybe now that I have a vision. ScrapGirlsRo
Yep - I agree with them. Keep your files - your original zipped files together and burn them to CDs. I would even make multiple copies if you can stand to. I can't tell you how many people have found out that their CDs went bad on them! And then, there is absolutely no worries that you can accidentally WRECK some supplies. You can always recover the ruined item from your archive. But this way of putting things together is dreamy. Truly makes it fun to browse your little store house.
Guest Alabama Gal
Thank each of you for your suggestions. Yes, I will now start going back to my CD's and save everything into catagories. Wow, that is going to take a long time. You folks are great!
Guest deannayh
It was my understanding that cds only last for up to 5 years before they go bad. Is this not the case?? deanna
