photogeek
I was wondering how you color something that is black. An example I found an empleshment I like with the words: Laugh Everyday and it has a flower next to it. I like the design, but it's black. Is there a way to give it color? I have so much to learn and want to learn it all...now! Thanks for any help!

Guest Ursula
I would normally do this by selecting the black with the magic wand, then choose the color I want it to be in the forground color box in the tool bar, then hit Ctrl + U to get the Hue/Saturation box, click on colorize, then lower the lightness till I see some color coming through. You can adjust Hue, Saturation, and Lightness until you get the color you want.

In one of the newsletters a scrapper mentioned using the Image>Adjustments>Match color sequence to match embs to a LO but I couldn't get it to work for me. This works very nicely. jennk
You can also do image-adjustments-replace color. You will get a dialog box where you select what color you want to replace. You just click on the embellishment. You can use the slider to increase or decrease what it will "pick up" or change. This is good if there is texture and you want to keep the texture but just change the color. Next, you click on the replace box that is down on the right side. You can then use the color picker to tell it what you want. Click OK and you will have a recolored embellishment!
