Pse6 Vs Acdsee

I am boggled down! I've loaded trial versions of PSE6 and ACDSee's Photo Editor 2008 and have been playing with both and now I am soooo confused on which one to get!

I have all my photos and digi kits organized and tagged on my Windows Photo Gallery (Vista). I see that I can drag them into ACDSee layouts, but can't figure out how to do that in PSE.

I find ACDSee's layering to be more user friendly but am wondering if I'd be smarter to take the time to learn PSE as it seems to be more popular and Ro's secrets looks like it might be a "must have."

So I guess my questions are:

Is organizing and tagging them in Windows Photo Gallery a safe way to do it? Will I lose them if the Operating System changes in the future?

I want to have an organization program where I can view what I have by the tags I have set up and be able to click on that item and have it go directly into the document I am working on. i.e. if I'm working in PSE Editor is there a way to go to the PSE organizer and click on what I want and it places it in that document? Does ACDSee have that ability if I purchase their organizing software?

I appeciate any help. I am a blob of confusion at this point from reading websites! Thanks!!!

Sorry I just now saw this thread...just in case you're still confused or this helps someone else wondering...

ACDSee has two programs...Photo Manager 10 is for organizing and Photo Editor 2008 is an editor similar to PSE. I use both and don't own any Adobe programs.

It's true there aren't as many tutorials out for Photo Editor but it's so user friendly you aren't going to need as much help (at least in my experience.) Digi Scrap Info has tutorial for both programs and Heidi teaches a Photo Manager class at Jessica Sprague's while I teach Photo Editor classes at Christy haig's site. I'll be putting more free tuts up on my blog here soon, just getting caught up on my lesson plans first. Let me know if you still have questions for either ACDSee program, I love to help!

I'm not sure if you've already gotten your answer, beejay; but I use PSE5 and absolutely love it! I would love to switch up to the PSCS3 version, but right now that's not possible! But I must say I'd stick with the Adobe photo editing programs. That's not to say that you might not like something else. You should download the free trials and experiment with them. There are some PSP users here and I'm sure there are others who use different programs. What's important is that you're comfortable with the program or, at least, dedicated to learning more about it, if you're NOT already comfortable with it.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for helpful info! I've gone with PSE6 and ACDSee 10 Photo Manager and am happy with them. I did trial version of both the PSE6 and ACDSee and did find that ACDSee was extremely user-friendly compared to PSE6 but I opted for PSE6 because it offered more of the options I wanted. Thanks again for your comments and help!

If you have everything tagged in PSE - I have mine tagged by color, type of embellishment, etc. - you can have both your Organizer window open and your Editor window open. When you want to choose several items to go into your layout, you can go to the Organizer window, select all the items you want to use, hit CTRL + I, and they'll open in the Editor window.

I think that's what you were asking. If not, sorry for muddying the waters!
