Sketch Challenge?

I just noticed in the gallery, in the challenge section, there is a sketch challenge area. When is the sketch challenge posted? I haven't used a sketch before and would really like to try it. I'd appreciate it if I could be pointed in the right dirsection.

TIA

Usually, Marnie will post on the MB a few hours before the challenge chat. She will post a link to the sketch and you go there to download it. Then you use the sketch as inspiration for you layout. HTH. I think there is a sketch challenge tomorrow night. Just check the calendar and you will see the dates for the different challenges. They are also in the newsletter.

Howdy Tia!

Sketch Challenges are the best. The first challenge that I ever ever tried and the whole reason I stepped out of the shadows on Scrap Girls.

You are in luck. There is a scrap challenge this Thursday (tomorrow) at 9pm ET. Marnie (sprinklz) will post a thread in the message board about it tomorrow. A few hours before the chat, she will post a link to the sketch which you can then download and go to work on.

We look forward to having you there! Everybody is SO HELPFUL and patient and inspiring. Come on out! See you there!

I so look forward to seeing what everyone does with Marnie's awesome sketches! Tia, if you are wondering about past sketches the links to those are no longer available, but in good ol' Scrap Girl fashion you can buy Marnie's sketch books in the boutique! They include all of her challenge sketches as well as new ones!

Have fun!

Yikes, I thought it was just 'a take it at your own pace challenge,' not a chat challenge. I think that bar is a little too high for me. I haven't participated in a chat before. Seems intimidating, typing AND thinking about a LO at the same time. Thanks for the info though.

Oh, don't worry! Most people don't chat and scrap! Nobody can really do that. If I participate, I try to work on it before or after and then post it to the gallery later. If some people are working on their LO during the chat, believe me they're not chatting much. You can just come and chat, you don't even have to do the sketch, or you can download the sketch just to do on your own time. There's no deadline. You can always post it to the gallery when you get done. If you haven't ever done one of the chats, you should try the new member chat sometime. The last one was last night, so I'm not sure when the next one is, but it's a great way to get your feet wet in the chat room.

But, definitely don't feel like you can't participate in any of the challenges. There's no deadlines unless they are for certain contests, but even those give you plenty of time to get finished. Like the monthly contests. HTH.

You don't even need to come to the chat if you don't want to, it's just a little extra fun! If you want you can just down load the sketch using the link marnie will post on the message board then when your finished (no deadline) just post it in the sketch crop gallery! Give it a try! I love sketches, they're a blast!! :D

Please don't be intimidated by the chat!!!! It's mostly just fun! I like to try to have my LO done before the chat, but I'm a bit of a speed demon. Just post your LO in the gallery when you are done- no pressure!!!!!! Sketches are so fun to work with- they often take you in a direction you wouldn't have gone on your own.

Yea Karen! I was so afraid that you were going to be scared off. I have never scrapped and chatted at the same time. I have however discovered that I can shop the boutique and chat at the same time

This is the best crop/chat to get your feet wet with! All the ladies are so friendly, helpful, inspiring, patient. I promise that everyone will make you feel so welcome and right at home. You can get the sketch and work on it ahead of time, after the fact... or even not at all. I always try to catch the sketches irregardless of whether or not I am going to make the chat. The sketches are timeless and can be used over and over.

I look forward to you coming out to play tomorrow!

WE all meet in the chat room for crops. The crop schedule is in the newsletter, and there are usually reminders on the message board as well. The sketch crop is at 9 PM ET tomorrow (Thursday) Just click on the "Live Chat" button on the top bar of the message board. You need to have a current version of Java installed to get in, so you can go try it out any time to make sure you can get in. There is a chat tonight at 9:00 as well. Drop in and say "hi"!

Even though I profess to be able to chat and scrap at the same time, I usually get so engrossed in my project that I totally lose track of the chat. :) I hardly ever try to do both at the same time anymore.

Oh gosh Tia, I'm sorry I didn't see this thread until now (having one of those days where it's one step forward, three steps back - ack!).

Like all the other sketch devotess (:D), I sure hope you will join us for the challenge tomorrow. I promise there is no pressure and absolutely no time limits on the layouts - work when it's good for you.

Well, there may be a bit of pressure, if you are into games. We generally have a few silly guessing games. And the winner gets..... Bragging Rights! LOL. They are lots of fun and a great place to ask questions or share your layouts (if you are so inclined).

Hope to see you tomorrow night!

I have been doing the sketches even though I can't get my internet to work with the browser. This will be fixed as soon as we move. But I LOVE the sketches and am planning on having one done tomorrow night. Can't wait to see the sketch.

Thanks Marnie, I'm sure I'll be there, although 6pm is pretty early at my house. The kids can keep busy for a bit without me, that's what TV is for isn't it? Maybe they can do the dishes instead of me so I can mentally prepare for the guessing games. Sounds like fun!
