Tyler's turning 5 in a couple of weeks so I'm trying to plan his party! I really want to have a mystery or scavenger hunt type game that can be played by kids of different ages. If it's nice, they will be in our back yard. Does anyone know a website with (free) ideas on it? I've found some that you have to purchase but I'm not sure they are appropriate. He's really into Go Diego Go and Scooby Doo, so something along that line would be perfect!
Thanks!

Maybe since you are going the Diego route, you can plan on the kids finding actual or play animals in your backyard and putting them into their own "journal" You could have a picture or some things about the animals so that they would have a cute keepsake at the end!

Christina, I've used BirthdayPartyIdeas.com in the past for ideas. They have thousands of ideas for parties all categorized and easy to wander through. Some are over-the-top ideas costing lots of $$. Others are more basic. They are shared by Moms and Dads who are proud of what they did. I found many ideas that were adaptable to what we needed. Beware, the site can really suck you in and you'll get lost in there! LOL!
Have fun.

A great one that is not on the lines you were looking at but would be great for all ages... Olympics! You could have fun and off the wall games... eating a doughnut off of a string with no hands (string hanging off clothes line or tree), toss the apples into a basket, water balloon toss with parents, decorate your own cupcake, etc. I am doing something similar for my 9 year old and have done something in the past for my dd's 6th birthday. We always had a variety of ages for the family birthday.
Hope that gives you some additional ideas.

http://familyfun.go.com/ always has a lot of great free ideas. That's where I usually get ideas for our parties. I'm not sure what they have as far as mystery parties or scavenger hunts, but they have great cake recipes, party activities and ideas, crafts, etc. I love that magazine and their website.

do a search for your terms (ie: Scavenger hunt birthday party ideas), I have found some great ideas (free!) that way

Ok, I think I've decided on a Scooby Doo mystery. The presents are going to be stolen! I'm going to make clues for the kids to find while we are playing games. I'm working on the invitations, I downloaded a coloring page and digitally colored it in, I'm using Scrap Girls papers (who else?!)
Now I need help with the last line of my limerick!
Seems like 1-2-3 Street has a ghost,
Things are missing, the party’s TOAST!l
Collect all the clues
Wear your running shoes
now I need something to rhyme with ghost!
Thanks for all your help, those sites have SO much information!
