Creating Keepsakes had an article on the Canon Pixma Pro 9000 and now I'm intrigued (particularly since Costco's printing can be hit or miss in terms of them getting the size right, etc.)
Does anyone have this printer and what do you think?
Thanks!

After playing with it for a bit (just a minute or two), I figured out how to change settings to get a higher resolution print out. To be perfectly honest, I was pleased with the result but not blown away. I need to do a side by side comparison of a print out from the Canon at its "high" setting and from my HP at its "best" setting (the Canon doesn't seem to have a "best" setting or I just haven't found it yet). However, it's almost a moot point because my HP is limited to 8.5x11.
I've already been working on some large layout format calendars for 2009 (using Thao Cosgrove's awesome templates), and am looking forward to being able to print them out easily!

Oh I have this printer and love love love it!!! YUP!! YOU sure can!!! It prints poster sized papers, as long as you buy the paper in the size you want to print it! I've made posters for my son's room at college with this printer. I use Ilford pearl paper to print on and the pages for my albums come out looking so amazing I can't even stand it!!! This is the first time I've seen this thread or I would have commented on it earlier!!!

I've never had this problem with my printer. It gives you plenty of warning when the printer is to be out of what ever color of ink, and I always keep printing until it tells me I'm out and have never had a problem with color or anything.

Interested to hear other thoughts on this ink question.
With my current HP, it comes up with a warning message when it ‘thinks’ it’s getting ‘low’ on ink. I have learned to just keep printing. It eventually comes up with the ‘low’ message again. Then, I can usually get at least 15 more pages out before it ‘visually’ shows that one of the colors is out. I may waste one sheet of paper, but I’ve gotten 30 to 45 additional pages printed from the first ‘low ink’ message—maybe even more since I’ve never counted how many between the 1st and 2nd message. So, being able to print until I determine the need to change the cartridges has been pretty cost-effective.
Does the Cannon operate like this? Can you keep printing until you ‘visually’ get poor color results?

With my Canon MP 830, I will get the msg that ink is running low but I keep printing and like you, usually get 10-15 more pages before it is really out, so I just ignore it til it starts showing signs of poor color. I would love to have this wide format printer though -
