New Pse 7 Coming Out

Just wanted to know if anyone has heard anything about the new PSE 7 program. I am using PSE 5. When PSE 6 came out, I read a post from Ro that said that you could not install new layer styles in PSE 6. This is why I did not upgrade to PSE 6 at that time. I use layer styles a lot in my layouts. I am wondering if by now (Ro's post was Sept. 25, 2007) everyone had figured out how to get around this so that we could install and use all the fabulous styles that Scrap Girls has for us to use in PSE 6. Will we be able to use layer styles, and for that matter, actions too, in PSE 7? If not, that will mean that I will have to just stick with PSE 5.

Gee, I'm not sure. One of the new features (I'm using PSEv6 now) that I am looking forward to is being able to adjust the brightness of the background through a Preference setting. Boy, that alone is worth the upgrade for me. There seems to be a number things including a new tool. I'm upgrading as soon as it is available.

ACtually, we discovered shortly after I read that post (you can find it later on that same string) that Adobe hadn't told me the truth about that when I talked to them. In fact, they had created a third set of folders (we are guessing to hide the fact since someone on the development team told me it wasn't possible) and you can install them there. We give complete instructions when you purchase styles.

It sounds like they are giving up hiding it in PSE7, which is good. They actually say that you can install new actions that you get on the Internet. I'm glad that are talking about it now.

So get PSE 6 if you want to. It's good.

I have pre-ordered PSE 7. It isn't coming out until Sep 22nd. I'll then begin working on a version of Secrets for it. It looks like it might be good, but I can't say for sure until I see it. Regardless, I have to do it because after a little bit, people won't be able to buy PSE 6 anymore! This happens every year at this time... the release a new version. Keeps me busy! LOL

Thanks everyone for your comments on upgrading to PSE 7. I have since read some reviews of the program on the internet. It seems that the most significant changes to the program (besides the online photo sharing) are the addition of a Bluer Skies Smart Brush (which will not work with complicated objects in the sky like tree branches), a teeth whitener, a Scene Cleaner tool (combines the best of several very similar shots to get the best of all of them), and an Action Player section where you can run actions that come with the program and actions that you download from the internet. I have been able to do most of these things using PSE 5. None of these features seem worth upgrading to me. I'm going to stick with my PSE 5. It's been working well for me.

I am an avid PSE 5 fan too. I didn't upgrade to 6 because I didn't feel there were significant enough changes to warrant the cost and I hated the dark interface. It sounds like there are some fun new things in 7 and you can adjust the brightness of the interface so I am going to pre-order 7. I don't like to get too far behind in versions. If I don't like it, I can always go back to 5!

I have been using PSE5 but think I would like to upgrade to 7, however, not sure how the upgrades work. Does everything I have (like brushes I've purchased) automatically load into 7? I'm a little afraid the change is going to be too much. It seems the interface looked so different in 6 but 7 looks like they might have gone back to the same interface I am familiar with in 5. Any comments? Thanks for any insight anyone can provide.

Welcome, Jane! I don't know the answer to your question, but I just wanted to say we're glad to have you here at Scrapgirls! Someone will come along soon who can help you, I'm sure. I'm interested in the answers since I use PSE5, too. Of course, my ideal is to upgrade to PSCS3 :) but PSE7 is a little less costly. :P
