1access
Hi all--Can any of you attest to a service with good prices for digitalizing existing photos? I have color photos (last 10 years) and 70 year old photos. Is it best to use a local service or a mail-in service? Any particular aspects to consider when choosing a service? Thanks! debilou
I would certainly use a LOCAL service.. Some mail your photos to 3rd world countries for the scanning. Find out how they will do the scanning - you really want them to do it in their own shop... And, what will they do with your photos... place them on DVD... what dpi... 300 And, what form... .jpg More that one copy... good for backup... And, the 70 year old photos, do concern me... How precious are the photos to you... If they are antique photos... maybe you want to do those yourself.. As they can't be replaced... I have heard that there are some "Namely a Kodak van" that will come to your home, and do the scanning, but I have not been able to find that in my area. However, I would not trust another company to deal with my antique photos... My 10 year old photos perhaps... but not the antique ones...
cyndisa
Would it be just as cost effective to get a good scanner and do them yourself? Just wondering. I don't have a scanner, but I'm thinking I'd have more peace of mind doing them at home, rather than trusting them to someone else.
April Showers
That is why I do my own- little chunks at a time. I know there are reputable places that will do them for a reasonable price. What I have just isn't replaceable.
Art-C
I agree. What software do you use? With PSE, you can scan several small photos with one pass. It sure makes it go faster. And PSE will separate them automatically. Pretty swift!
