Any Mac Users Tried Storybook Creator?

I'm a Mac user and digiscrap with PSE4. I am SO behind and I want to catch up quickly. I am drawn to Creative Memories StoryBook Creator plus for this reason. I feel like I can use their pre-designed pages, drop my pics in, and then add all my digital elements that I already have (if I choose to).

I would basically be using it to catch up. Once I was feeling caught up, I'd probably go back to what I've been doing, which is using PSE4 and designing my own pages.

Has anyone else considered doing this?

Has anyone with a Mac tried to use SBC+ on their mac successfully?

Thanks,

Jenni

Yes, you are right, it is the same concept. The difference is that for around 8 dollars you get 30 quick pages. That's why I was thinking I could really crank them out!!

Thanks,

Jenni

Are you sure CM's software supports a Mac? I'm a Mac user, and I used to make CM scrapbooks, but now that I'm changing over to digital scrapbooking I'm finding many websites that let you create those quick books or pages, don't support a Mac. I can't find anything anywhere at the CM site that says they support both platforms. Maybe I'm missing something?

I understand where you're coming from though. I have almost thirty years of photos to scrap just starting with the birth of my first born, and that doesn't even begin to include my life before kids!! I'm completely overwhelmed to the point of inertia. I can't seem to get myself started. I just come to Scrap Girls, and get the daily newsletter so I can drool over everybody else's beautiful pages. But I don't know where to start making my own. It's definitely frustrating and those quick books look really good to me right now too.

If you go to CM's home page and click on "help zone", then digital it will take you to a list of FAQs. In their FAQs it answers the mac compatibility question. Basically, they say it will work, but they state that it isn't a supported platform. From all my research I have concluded that in order to make it work on my mac I would have to purchase and install a windows operating system on my mac, then purchase the SBC+ software. I would want to use their advanced version so that I could use all my digital elements that I've already purchased and currently use on those pages as well.

So, I don't think it would be worth it. If I had a superfast PC, then I might would consider using it on that computer to catch up, but I don't.

As far as being behind..........I've been just sitting on it as well, just like you. So I've decided to take it one theme at a time. The only way I've ever been able to accomplish big tasks in life is to look past the overwhelming-ness of it and focus on breaking the task apart into steps and then do them--one at a time. Eventually I will be mostly caught up. Tonight I decided I would complete my second son's baby book--his pictures from his first year. I didn't do any pages, though. Instead I organized the pictures into an album in iPhoto--every picture from his first year went into this album. Tomorrow I'm going to start selecting the pictures that I definitely want to use on pages and then I'm going to start doing pages. I've purchased several quick pages and albums from scrapgirls and also the baby book scrap simple templates. If I commit to using these types of pages for the album, then I'll finish it quickly. I'm hoping that will make me feel so accomplished that I'll be ready to move on to the next task....................

Digital scrapbooking is so much faster for me than paper scrapbooking. It's not unreasonable to say I could do one page per day (with some days doing more and some days doing none). It would average out and at the end of the year, I would probably have some 300 pages. That makes it seem like I could get a lot of scrapbooking done when I look at it that way.

Good luck! Hope my new outlook helps you to get started too--one page at a time!!!!

Thanks,

Jenni

I did go to CM's website and saw that the software is PC only. I kind of figured that's what I'd find. I have an old version of their software still sealed in plastic because right after I bought it, I also bought my iMac. So it was useless to me. I think Scrap Girls stuff is so much nicer anyway. I've spent a fortune already on stuff, but haven't a clue what to do with it yet! LOL!!

I am even farther behind than you. I'm just now learning how to use PSE 6 on my Mac by watching video tutorials. I haven't even made a page yet and still feel quite intimidated. Also, I have only the last five years worth of photos in my iPhoto. The rest are 35mm prints and have to be sorted and scanned in. It's a HUGE job!! I have a spare bedroom that basically is filled with my photo boxes. I have thousands of photos!! It definitely overwhelms me.

So, I don't feel as optimistic as you, but I wish you the best of luck. I can't wait until I'm cranking out a page or more a day. With my youngest (and third child) 16 now, I have the time. I just don't have the confidence. I'm working on it though thanks to this website.

Debbie, welcome to SGs ... please don't feel overwhelmed! My youngest of four is 20 years old. I, too, have thousands of photos sitting in boxes. Just start with today. As I take new photos, I scrap them. Then, whenever I have time or the inclination, I scan an older photo and scrap that. Enjoy the process and don't let it become an overwhelming task. I've given all my daughters their own albums (with only several pages). Whenever I complete a layout for them to add to their album, they are thrilled.

Hopefully, you are watching Ro's video tutorials. They should have you making layouts within hours. That, in itself, is such a rewarding and thrilling experience that it motivates you to do more. So, please relax, enjoy SGs, enjoy digital scrapbooking, join in on some challenges and crops, and ask questions any time you have one!!!

I'm ditto-ing kimmybutton!

Once you watch those videos you will get it and you'll be so excited that you'll make a page that same day. Then you'll realize that you can do it and you'll make some more!!!!!!

Get after it, girlie!

Find your most favorite pics right now, watch the videos, and you'll be on your way :-) The videos are fantastic--I never could have done it without them. After I watched them, I was no longer clueless and feeling stupid--I was ready to go. I felt like I knew what to do.

Here's another idea--buy some quick pages if you haven't already. To be honest, I was completely thrilled to finally have the ability to "drop a picture" into the page by using what I had learned that it motivated me as well. Before I watched the videos, I thought dropping a picture into a layout was hard!

Jenni

I have never tried Story Book Creator, but I agree about just using SGs easy pages for awhile if you just want to catch up.......I would bet that if you google Story Book Creator that they will let you have a free trial period and see if you like it.

Hi Jenni,

I just stumbled across your post and forgive me if someone already wrote this (I didn't read every response) but Creative Memories Storybook Creator Plus is not compatible with MAC. Also, I have used it, I used to be a CM consultant, and it is limited in it's capabilities. PSE is far better. Good luck!

Warning to those thinking of buying the sbc for the Mac ~ it's out and available to buy BUT buyer beware!!! They are releasing an "update" the first of March and all of us that bought it when it first came out are praying that they have fixed all of the numerous bugs in the program. I've used the PC version and loved it. Bought the Mac version and hate it ~ well not hate but very disappointed in it. They have NO templates available (yet) and lots of features that you can do on the PC you can't do with the MAC. It works great with iPhoto and that's a plus but really that's the only plus about it right now. I know several CM consultants who are not selling it yet to their customers due to all the issues. They have a free trial that you can download and try - do that before you commit to buying it all.
