How do I reduce a batch of images at once. When I take photos I upload to the computer and immediately want to send to friends and family but need to reduce them all to 25-33% to email. I save the copies in a reduced file.

Today we had 8 inches of snow so I had almost 100 photos of my boys building snowmen and our horses running and playing in the snow.

I don't want to mail 100 but maybe 20. Reducing one photo at a time takes forever. :banghead:

Thanks,
Robin

BTW, I am VERY impressed with the Photoshop tutor I purchased from Scrapgirls. Saved me weeks of figuring things out and a ton of frustration.

Gosh, that is a GREAT question. One that I still struggle with. Maybe we will get lucky and someone will know!

create an action.

open a photo, click "record action" in the actions palette.
reduce the file
save as
click stop action
save your action

test your action on a different file to make sure it works!!!!!

go to File>Automate>Batch
find your action
find your files
OK

sit back and watch

There's a little program out there that will do that. It's called Batch Image Resizer http://www.jklnsoft.com There's a free version which will only do six pictures at a time and then when you pay for it it will do as many as you want at a time. It's real simple...you tell it what size you want them and where you want them put afterwards and then click start.

Thanks. Before you posted, I found the answer online.
Open one of the images that you want to resize.
open window>actions using small triangle on the top>select new action...give it a name, RECORD...then do all the steps that you want to do to the image

I usually also save into a new folder and file close...then go to the actions palette and at the bottom click on the small square on the left (roll your mouse over if you are not sure which one) to stop recording.

go to file>automate>batch...the action will probably be the one that you just created>select folder with images that you want to process, select folder where you want the finished items to go...you can rename etc...I usually dont since I'm not a pro at this but I do get it to work...then click on the upper right OK...I'm not in the actions right now...but whatever the button is that makes thisngs start...you will see each item will open and will go thru the steps of the action (you can watch the action steps) and then it will place where you want to go with them. occasionally it may ask you a question and once you answer it will continue the process. this is the basic and easy steps.
It wored great for EVERY IMAGE IN THE FOLDER!

I'm going to reduce all the images in my image folder for my web sites. CS2 is super.

THanks again,
Robin
