I know very little about this series of books - only that it's about vampires and it's a very popular series. Armed with a $25 gift card from Overstock.com, I was going to order the first 3 in the series. But it says "Young Adult" fiction.

Are these books meant more for pre-teen and teen readers? Or will an adult still be able to appreciate them? And are they too "young adult" to pass on to my almost 10 year old step daughter when I'm done?

You will like them. I am 38 and love them. I am finishing up the first book. I don't get much time to read. But I think ten is too young. They seem more for high school age. At least to me anyway. You know love and romance and stuff.

Thanks, Linda! She's currently reading the first Harry Potter, so by the time she gets through that series, she could be 13-14 anyway.

I think they are meant for the 14-17 year old ag group but I really liked them and I am in my thirties. I liked one and four best. The Twilight series has a lot of romance (not a lot of kissing and such), but the revolves on the two main characters love for each despite unusual circumstances.

Teens? Unless 30, 31 and 20 count as teenagers, then no. (That's my current age group for the midnight premier of the movie in November!)

I agree that 10 would be too young. I feel that the fourth book is really too much for a young teen. My 14yodd started reading the series before me and so I started reading them and blazed though them and absolutely loved them. However, once I read the 4th book I was a bit leary about her reading it because I read them much faster than her. It's got a few things in it that I consider to be for a more mature audience. However, she was already into the series and it helped her and I have some good talks.

I love the series so much that I can hardly wait for the movie to come out in November! My husband is reading them to me right now and I love hearing them again after reading them myself. I'm not sure I could take them at a chapter a night if I hadn't already read them once. I'm afraid the suspense would drive me to cheat and read ahead.

Sure are! I got Book 1 and Book 2 in paperback, Book 3 in hardcover. Came to $25.79 shipped - and I had a $25 gift card. PERFECT!

I found the books dangerous. I spent one night up until 4:30 in the morning while devouring one of the books, and that was while I knew my son would wake up for the day just 2 hours later. EXTREMELY addictive. Read at your own risk. Beware... lol.

LOL Erica, I did the same thing. I started reading the first one, didn't do laundry for 3 days straight, then consequently bought both the 2nd and 3rd, and finished those within the next week. I think we ate cold cereal for dinner a lot that week, LOL.

Umm, yeah. I'm in love with these books! I definitely think they are worth reading, no matter what your age! They are very well written.

my DD who is 22 today:) has gotten me hooked on these books. I finished the first 2 and am starting the third right now. They are an awesome series and I'm going to be 45 next week so they must appeal to all ages. They are so tastefully written and the way she writes is just amazing to me. It's like a I'm watching a movie in my head if that makes any sense. I can tell my DD has set her standards for a young man very high since she has read these books which to me isn't a bad thing. I just love Stephanie's writing style and can't wait to start the third book:)!!!! I never even heard of them till I saw a post on this MB and encouraged my dd to start reading them and she is obsessed. Today is her birthday and all she wanted was anything that had to do with the books:). I think they are great fun to read!!! I hope you get you can read them and then let everyone know what you think:)

He he..I know, I ran into that when I was halfway through book 2 or 3! I started reading and nearly knocked over my computer in my haste to exit the thread so as not to spoil the surprise! Just avoid reading ALL Twilight threads for now just in case

I had to find out what all the talk was about so I went out and got the book. Of course...the next day I had to go get New Moon since I zipped through Twilight. And now I'm on the war path to the store for 3 & 4. Can't believe I went through the first two in 2 days! Now my daughters are arguing over whose reading them first.

I just finished the 4th book last night. I'm sad too that it was the last one, but I felt like things were wrapped up. Won't say any more for those who haven't read the last book!

I'm with you, Mindy. I think she wrapped the story up nicely. Though there's possibility for more books, I am content with the story as-is, too. I'm holding out for the movie, and then after I see it, I'm going to read them again.
