For anyone who has every lived in on-post housing, how do you handle cookie and popcorn sales?
Our oldest is in Cub Scouts. His pack is selling popcorn right now. Our youngest is a Daisy. Sooner or later, she will have to sell cookies.
We don't really want to ignore the regulations about selling on post. And, even if no one cared, dh would still fee uncomfortable about taking ds door to door to sell popcorn on post. Yesterday, he made a sign and sat outside at a card table for a little bit. It's done, even though they are not supposed. The son of the pack leader has already filled up 2 1/2 pages of order forms. We could take him to a neighborhood off post, I guess. I don't really want to dress him up in his uniform and take him to church. DH did sign them up to sell at the PX on Sunday.

I would do the PX and also how about a local outside grocery store.

I've also seen girl scouts outside of a Best Buy.

Also, Can you DH or your simple not ask but simple leave post the flyer for the sales in your office cubicle

Where you are asking people to buy, but if they see it they can...

I had many of my staff do that... where they were soliciting... but simply had it there, and many did buy that way...

The rest - to meet our kids quota if they had one... we just bought and gave away or froze and ate during the year...

our Girl Scouts Council here speak with the post and find out first if the troop there has permission. The only kids allowed to sell are the ones on post. and it sounded like the leaders and Council knew the when and where... rules.

I dont think that helped, but between the two bases here and the academy, our girl scouts were able to sell on their own bases.

DH and our oldest will be at the PX this Sunday for four hours selling popcorn. So, he should sell some. And, DH will probably take to him to the closest housing development off post. No way, would he take it to work. He's the boss for one thing, and the regs expressly forbid it (not that people don't do it, but that is not us.)

We live on post at Fort Bragg and the kids come to my door all the time.

The on post schools have fundraisers.

I usually won't buy from any of them unless I know them.
Some of these kids are coming and have no idea
what they are doing. The parents are no where around.

I am moving in 2 weeks so I obviously haven't bought anything
lately. Who know what kids will be selling at Ft Knox!

Personally, I think kids are given the school fundraisers
way too much. My kids are just not interested in
doing them, so I never force them.

Just my 2 cents!

Everyone always came door to door but would your dh feel comfortable just mentioning to friends? Also we had our kids call grandparents and aunts and uncles. they were always good about ordering over the phone and then would tell us to just let the kids have it once it came in. My parents always liked it because they always felt like they were missing out on stuff like that with us being so far away.

I know this post is really late - I feel like my life has been speeding out of control and I can't catch up to it. Everytime I turn around it's another weekend and I feel like I have accomplished nothing. Oh well.

I hope all went well with the selling of popcorn. Our Pack sells it later in the summer and we missed the opportunity for a required fund raiser. So we did coffee. Being new and having your dad as the boss hindered us. But we got out into a neighborhood and made it work. But also we bought a lot, which I hope to not have to repeat again. we also got family involved.

In CO school the instructor joked that "you know why your kids are all successful at fundraising for events? Because you step up to the plate and buy. Good for you!!" Funny but expensive at the same time.

Hope next year goes well for you, I just found out that popcorn sales for us start Aug 1 and I am already thinking about it. Not just for us but for my den as well.

Take care and hope you son is enjoying scouts as much as mine is. Hey are you guys doing where you uniform to school day? It is Fri, Feb 13 for us in this area. Right after the Blue and Gold Bash. check into it - my son can't wait!!!!
