Pse3 And Highlighting Colours

okay all your pse3 experts out there here this shout for help please

got some pics that would look great in black and white and i know how to do this but would like to leave the odd flower or item coloured ....
any help would be most appreciated though i must warn not very comp literate so step by step guide needed for computer *** over here :blondmoment:

hey i like this website even more today cause it wont let me call myself an i d i o t isnt that cool and puts in little asterix instead

I don't know if there is a faster more efficent way of doing this. What I've done is open your photo. Duplicate your layer so you should now see your photo twice in the side bar. Click on the bottom layer and go to Enhance>Color>Remove Color. (this is with my pse2, it might be slightly different for 3) you can then readjust the contrast to get the correct values in the black and white photo. (you'll need to make your top layer hidden so you can see your black and white photo).. Then to show the color in the only areas you want there are a couple of ways you can do it.. 1) take your eraser brush and start deleting your color photograph anywhere you would like the black and white photo to show through, 2) take the polygonal lasso tool or magnetic lasso tool which ever works best for you. draw along the edge of the object you want to be colored till the whole shape is selected, copy and paste it. Then delete the regular color photo and you should see the color one on top of the black and white one. If it's how you want it then merge your layers. Hope this helps. someone else might have another quicker way of doing it.
