I bought it in 2001, paid $300 for it. It prints photos briliantly. Lately, I have been having a big problem with it--it won't print my pages properly. It actually seems to pick and choose which parts it wants to print! It will print the page minus various elements or effects that should be there--this is driving me crazy (not to mention the waste of photo paper and ink.) I finally checked the manual and it only has a 16MB memory. Could this be the problem? I know that some of my pages are much larger than this in .png format. I was changing them to .jpg format to print, but now I seem to be having problems with that, too. I change it to a .jpg ans some of the elements don't appear on the .jpg page! Of course, all of these things happen on SOME pages that are only 2 or 3 megs in size. It seems like the more complicated a page is (lots of shadowing, cutouts, special effects, etc.) the less likely it is to print properly.

My Webpage This is my entry for the January white sale contest. I was able to convert this one to .jpg without a problem but no matter what I try it will NOT print the tag tag I made for the letter "G", so I end up with a page that says "randma Betty" and nothing at all in the spot where the tag should be! This file is less that 3 megs. The frustrating thing is that it is hit & miss--some pages print without a problem and some do not.

I know that I need a new computer. I have been saving up and I should have a brand spanking new, state of the art machine soon! Should I invest in a new printer, also or should the new computer with tons of memory and RAM fix the printer problem?

Is anyone out there using the latest HP photosmart printer? I'd be interested to know how you like it.

Thanks

I'm sorry I don't know the answer, but I hope someone will have it here shortly. I'd like to know in case I have this problem in the future.

I have the Photosmart 3310. I am in love with it. It is wireless, and it uses the Vivera inks...there are 6 of them, and they are only $10 each. The neat thing is that you only replace them as they run out, and they never run out at one time...The print quality is flawless, especially on HP Premium plus paper.

Now, i had the HP Photosmart 1000 which I equally loved, but it is 6 years old now. I find it prints slower, and my husband complains of print quality. I suppose that these printers run out of steam after a few years. You could either pay to have it services, or buy a new printer. Since printers are so cheap anymore, I'd hedge my bet and buy a new one.

HINT! If you have a Sam's Club near you, buy one there...service agreements are CHEAP and if your printer dies, they just replace it with something of equal value!!
