If you design digitally, what is it that you do with these designs?

Do you view your scrapbook page on the computer?
Do you share your albums digitally with family and friends?
Do you print out your digital albums?
Do you use digital designs, print them out and use them in your paper scrapbooks?
Do you use digital designs for crafts and home decor?

I use my digital designs in paper scrapbooks. Initially my goal just so save money by making my own captions and elements instead of buying them. Now I want to be able to mass create my custom painted papers for my books and to sell online.

I didn't think I was doing things digitally until I expanded my thinking to go beyond designing the pages on the computer and printing them out. I don't see myself doing that, but.....

I have made things on the computer to be used on my paper layouts. Two of the three layouts CK has ever picked up from me had elements like this. In one, I scanned and manipulated an image, printed it on cardstock and then tore the edges to create a background element. I did something similar another time, only the photo was printed onto vellum and chopped up to create a background element. So in that way, I do design digitally!

I'm just starting to print out stuff from the CK font and clip art packages and then use them on my scrapbook pages. It sure saves a lot of money!!

Hi!! Glad to be here!! I only digital scrap. I have combined my love and interest in graphic design and manipulation (which I have always been interested in - but am only 'self taught') and my digital pictures with this. I never was interested in paper scrapping and my 'baby' is 15. I have only been scrapping since spring. So - to answer your questions....

I love scrapping digitally! I'm one who has to move stuff around on the page to see where I like it best, and it's so much easier to do that digitally!

I have to see my pages "in real" though, so I always print them off. I get a professional printer to do my 12x12's and I print off 8x8's for gifts, and 4x4's for a "brag" album!

I love the digital best. My home is so small that space is a problem and I found paper scrapbooking a problem.
I have called around about getting it printed. My family insist that I send email them every page I make. They are mostly paper scrappers.
I did almost have a heart attack last night. I had to restore my computer. I lost all my photo's but my niece has them as backup. I thought I lost all my pages when my disc said there was an error, but they finally came up.
Yes, I look at them often!!! I am relatively new at this, so I am still at awe at how good they look doing them digital.

Glad to hear you got everything back, Tedibear! That would have been terrible!

I am 100% digital, though I do print out and have been known to augment a page or two, but scrap with real paper and real stuff, too scary for me!

Hi....I just started scrapbooking digitally this past April, and I am hooked! It is so much easier and faster than using the actual paper to do it, and I love using my PSP 7. Haven't got brave enough to try PSP 8 yet, but am sure I will down the road. I print my pages out, share them with family members, so everyone gets a copy. My daughters have gotten hooked on this also, so now there are 3 of us making and sharing pages.....it's so much fun. I need to learn more and more, so look forward to all your ideas. Hugs, Phyllis

I still paper scrap but have quickly fallen in love with digital scrapping. I haven't printed my digital layouts just yet, but plan to. In fact, I work in 8x10 in order to make it easier and cheaper to print for an album one day.

My pages are usually 8x8 and I print them out on letter paper and then trim to the edges. I can print 12x12, but too lazy.

I like the smaller albums, easy to take places and share.

All right, so I gotta be different! I'm a paper scrapper all the way. Number one, I have too HUGE an inventory to not scrap with real paper, and number two, I'm a very "textural" person! LOL! I have to feel things. I'm one of those who walk thru a fabric store, or a clothes store, and I have to feel everything that I pass by.

Naw, you're not different I was a paper only scrapper until about 6 months ago. I bought a sticker module for a layout that was a cowboy quote and it costs about $6 just for that one sticker. UGH!! All I could think of was that I should have written down the quote I liked, printed it out on my computer and saved $6!!!

I have an entire scrap space filled with "paper" scrapping goodies. I'm not going to abandon them. However in the future instead of buying stickers, I will probably buy fonts. Instead of buying quotes in sticker form or on vellum, I will print them myself. Instead of buying rubber stamps I will buy line art graphics- that way I cannot mess them up as I'm a spastic stamper!!

Using the computer for scrapping is addictive. I've figured out how to print on ribbon, twill tape, tags, painted papers, transparencies and more! Just stick around long enough.... we'll win you over!!

I have paper scrapped for 10+ years, but began using premade digital elements from my various card software and scrapbook software programs about 3 years ago. I am brand new to digital scrapping, and plan to learn all I can. My goal: to digi-scrap only.

In the past, I have printed digital elements and attached to my pages, and have designed the entire page (from the above mentioned programs) and then printed them out. So I have been combining the two styles.

However, I can't seem to part with my paper collection nor my stickers. But I do plan to scan my papers to cd for future list and pass my collection to my cousin (who refuses to go digital).

I plan to print some digital albums (probably 12x12), but most of the albums I create will be copied to cd to share with friends and family.

Jennia, I guess I'm more of a digital scrapper than I realize. Or maybe it's just that my definition of a digital scrapper isn't wide enough. I mean, I do most of the things you mentioned in your post, computer jouranling, printing out quotes, etc, on vellum, transparencies, printing pictures, etc on transparencies, printing out clip art, printing on ribbon, twill, etc. So, I do alot on my computer.

No, although before I became 100% digital, I did create titles and such for my paper layouts on my computer either with just fonts or fonts and photos.

We are not crafters! WE are ARTISTS!!!!!
I help dying kids scrap - i create digital pages for them to start with - and they add their goodies which are also printed out by me - also the pix are ones we take with the diital camera and print out immediately for them. I have a craft area all of you would hate me for! (about 500 sq ft at AngelAID) and I have collected more STUFF in the last 30 years than I care to admit- I am a collage artist so I have about 30 cabinets full of just paper Items I have saved over the years - anyone want to come and play?

my stuff is framed, collaged onto a purse collection - the walls, cabinets - anything- my AngelKIDS laugh and tell people not to stand still for long - or Ms.Arlene will "old lady" you up (that's what they call my collaging!), put you in a zip lock bag, or sell you!

You gotta love this addiction

mine are mostly viewed on the computer. if i like a layout- it becomes my desktop background. if i really like a layout- i print out an 8x8 version and frame it (using normal frames, so there's a white border at the top and bottom, still looking for good 12x12 frames, lol).

my husband actually prints out smaller versions- like 4x4- that he keeps in a small photo album that he takes with him to work. people seem to like that- it gives them something else to comment on, other than how cute our kids are, lol.

almost all of my pages are uploaded in various galleries. right now- i have one that i can't upload, because i submitted it for an MM call, and it's killing me, lol! my inlaws know which galleries i post in, and they go there and look at my layouts from time to time. mike also shares these links with them.

I print paper copies and put them in albums. Then I usually end up giving them to my mom or MIL. I have all the originals on CDs and always just figure "I can print them later..." but never really do. I think I like the making better than the keeping around and reviewing. I also print copies and pin them to my cubicle at work....all over, I'm sure my co-workers are sick of them, but I do change them frequently, as I make new ones, and hey, they're my walls. At home I have several of my "current faves" framed in 11x14 black wood frames. They look gorgeous framed like that. THick, black wood frames, give it a shot, makes them look like ART. Oh, and there is always one as the background on each of my computers, so I guess I do see some of them onscreen.
I started out digital only, had never paper scrapped until an MMD challenge to paper-scrap with digital stuff. Now I am about 90% digital, 10% paper. Unfortunately, as a graphic designer and general collector/hoarder of STUFF, I can not stop buying regular SB papers and supplies cuz they're so darn beautiful. I have more than I could ever use on the measly 10% of pages I do paper-wise.

I'm a paper scrapped, and new to digital scrapping so my answers will be very basic!

Do you view your scrapbook page on the computer?
Yes! I've only done three layouts so far but I can't stop looking at them!

Do you share your albums digitally with family and friends?
I have done already, I uploaded them to an image hosting account and posted them in my LiveJournal for my friends to see what I've done so far :)

Do you print out your digital albums?
I am going to, in fact tomorrow I am going into town to print them off to see what they look like and where I will need to make improvements etc...

Do you use digital designs, print them out and use them in your paper scrapbooks?
I haven't yet but I sure do plan on doing so, it's something I can't wait to do but I need to actually buy a half decent printer first!

Do you use digital designs for crafts and home decor?
Nope, not yet anyhow, although I recently purchased three Canvases to use in my paper scrapping :)
Take a look at my new Scrapping Blog!

I use my digital designs in paper scrapbooks. Initially my goal just so save money by making my own captions and elements instead of buying them. Now I want to be able to mass create my custom painted papers for my books and to sell online.

I print out my designs and use them in combination with paper scrappbooking.

No, I'm not sure how to do that just yet.

Nope, see answer to the last question.

Yes I do. Mainly because I can never find the font I want at the craft store. But there's always a true type font. Also it seems anytime I have an idea, I can't find the paper I want so I have to create it.

I've used PS to create the writing I needed for a box I decopauged with scrapbook paper. It's much easier to add texture and shadowing on the computer.

Good luck on selling your work, that's every crafter's dream, have fun and get paid for it!
