I just marked the dates in Outlook. I would use any excuse to come "home" to Utah....besides visiting my family this is the next best reason to fly back.

About how much do you think this will cost? I will be coming in from Oklahoma. I will certainly try to get my tickets early but a ball park figure on what to be saving for during the year will help.

I am most definitely going to try and make it this time.

Can't wait for the official sign up to start. By then I should have new camera and be at the point where I can focus on taking better pictures. I am still focusing on doing good pages for my books of Kandace and other members of the family.

Hopefully, the will be about the same as this year (assuming that the prices we get charged for things don't go up). In 2008, the ticket was 275.00. That included all of the materials and five meals (and snacks.)

And if you stay in the Guest House, breakfast is included, so there are no hidden costs (except what you might spend in the boutique!)

Is that where most of you stay? I want to be right in the middle of all the fun and excitement. I so need something like this. I wish it were sooner. But will be patient. Just have to be careful I don't talk myself out of it.

If you stay in the guesthouse, you're right there, about a block away. You don't need a rental car.
Plus the gathering room where they serve breakfast (and Starbucks/Tazo tea all day!) turned into Scrap Girls Central.
I don't think you'll talk yourself out of it - the excitement will continue to mount all year!
I expect the biggest problem this year is that it will sell out too fast.
:)

Is the location close to downtown? My mom flies out every year to Salt Lake and does Geneology research at the downtown library. It would be great if we could get out there together!!

Very accessible to downtown on the rail system (forgot what its called). I bet you both would have a fantastic time. Some of our folks stayed in hotels downtown too. I'd love to go do some research there too. I'm thinking of planning extra time off to stay in the area either before or after next year. Even a few extra days would be great.

The rail is just called Light Rail. :) Also, you can't beat the Family History Library. It is amazing and has so many resources in it. A must do in Salt Lake for Genealogists. :) :)

I had hoped to make it to the Family History Library this year and didn't make it, but it's on my wish list for next year. If I can work it out, I'd like to give myself a couple extra days in which to do some research.

My mom goes every year. It's amazing all of the information they have there! She comes back and it takes her a week just to tell me all that she found on the family!

This year she didn't have as much luck. Her best friend who she went with every year passed away just a few months before they were to leave. I don't think her heart was in it this time. She only went because she knew that's what her friend would have wanted. That is the other reason I would like to go with her next year!

I'm sure it would mean a lot to your mom if you shared this with her next year.

Due to popular demand, we have decided that we are going to have a Digital Scrap Link Convention in 2009! So mark the dates October 8-10th, 2009 on your calendars! We'll announce the actual sign-ups for the event later this year.

But be prepared... it will sell out fast because everyone knows now that Scrap Girls knows how to put on an amazing party! (And the classes are awesome, too!) See you there!

I wish it didn't have to be Thanksgiving weekend again. I really wanted to go to this next year but with it on Thanksgiving weekend I won't be able to. (sigh)

I hope to go this year. Can you come in on the first day of the convention and leave the last day, or do you need to
come in the day before and leave the day after?

You could. But from what we experienced this year...it'd be more fun to come the day before and leave the day after. Thats what I plan to do Lord Willing and coming by train which means 2 days on the train so will leave even earlier!

This year they started it at 1:00 p.m., so conceivably you could fly in that morning. It ended at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, so yes, you could probably fly home that night. However, I will say that it was great fun to get there the day before, meet people in the lobby downstairs, and go out to dinner with a group of SGs.

I would love to go, but Utah is a long way from Florida. Although...my birthday is October 30th. Do you think I could make that fly?

Here's hoping!

I'm also anxiously awaiting the actual sign up. I'd like to go ahead and make all my reservations and have everything all set. It was such a high point for me last year that I just can't wait. I'm thrilled about having the dates so early. Ro, as usual is taking great care of us.

I am so ready this year. I want to get my plane ticket, but I just want to make sure that I get in first. Already told DH that even if he is home from the road I am going. Nothing is stopping me, not even my fear of flying. I'll heavily tranquilize for that flight, but I'm going.

Julie - I will tranquilize right along with you! I am a real seat gripper while in the air - love to take off and land - but don't like it in the air. Guess after being on so many planes during Rich's AF career, I've had enough But I have flown many times since - mostly to Ohio and back when my son lived there - but not for awhile, so I will really have to psych myself up for this trip. Are you going to go on the first day or the day before? We are looking into what the best time frame for the best money is - and it appears that the number of days have a lot to do with the airfare. I have so many questions - and have to put all my files on Rich's laptop too so I can take it - don't think my giant Mac would travel well! LOL
