Now for my parents, Lance (ds) named. When he was 6 months old, we lived with my parents for 6 months while dh was in Navigator school before we took "the only grandchild across the ocean" to Germany. Anyway, he had fluid on his ears and we didn't know how bad it was. Every time I called my Mother, Mom, he would hear Bob... so she is Bob and Dad is Pop.
There are one set of Great Grandparents still around and they are GG and Ole' Man. I asked Grandaddy Paul what he wanted the Great-Grandkids to call him, he said Old Man, that is what I am! So Grand Lucy said, then I am GG because that is cute... GG for Great-Grand!

Really, I've been hoping that he doesn't call me grandma - since I'm still not quite comfortable being called that. Esp. since DH really teases me. DH used grammie and grampie for us - don't really like that. I'd like a more non-traditional name.
I'll admit I've daydreamed about this. My secret hope is that he'll come up with something that comes about because he has trouble speaking my name. Something like Grandma Elisha or Grammie Elisha will turn into something like "Meesha"
Is that bad?
I'm sure I'll be happy with what ever comes about though. <sigh...>

step-grandchildren called me Grandma Linda - so my two little
grandchildren call me Grandma Linda.
Everyone called my grandmother-Granny. The whole entire neighborhood
called her that. Her mother, my Great Grandmother we called Grandma
as she was very strict, stern and proper and we would never, ever think
of calling her Granny! (She would not have liked it at all) But my Granny was
the sweetest grandmother in the whole world and everyone loved her & called her Granny.
My children called my mother Gram. We called my grandfather-Grandpa and my children called my Dad-Grandpa.
It is neat to see all the "terms of endearment"
for grandparents on this thread!

Well anyways, We decided that I would be Mom and my Mom would be "MomMom" and it stuck with all six of my children and now that they are grown and she has passed on, they still fondly remember their MomMom ! And they call my Dad "BoBo" only because Jonathan had a terrible speech impedtiment (sorry about the spelling) and could not pronounce his D's or P's, so the poor man got stuck with "BoBo" !!!! He's still with us and they all still call him BoBo.
So Sandi you are so right, it is important what the grandkids call their Grandparents !!!!!!

I don't have grandchildren yet, but my kids call their grandparents all something different. We have Grammy and Grampy, Papa and Nana, Grandma and Bill (yes, step parents involved here).
I call my grandparents Gree and Papa. I couldn't say Granny when I was little, I would say Gree and it stuck. My husband called his grandparents Mommsie and Daddsie, and his mother called her grandmother Mom.
I love hearing all these stories!

We called my dad's parents Nonee and Dan because the oldest grandchild pronounced their names that way and it stuck. My other grandparents were Grandma and Grandpa.

My kids have a bunch of Grandparents so we felt we needed to easily differentiate them. So my German parents are Oma and Opa. My husband's Dad and Step-Mom are Papa and Nana, and my husband's Mom is Mema (which came about because my daughter couldn't say Grandma and it stuck.) My Grandma is Grandma Cathy. There are a couple more that get referred to as Grandpa Les and Grandma Kym but we literally NEVER see them, nor do they make any effort to see us, so I just don't count them. Actually, it makes my skin crawl to give them those honorable titles when they clearly don't deserve them. Ugh ... don't get me started. I could go on and on! The others have more than earned their special titles.

My grandparent's names were Grandmother (very formal) and Jayton ('cause that's where they lived- later we called him Grandaddy) and MeMa and PePa. My great grands were GG, Grandaddy Pierce, Granny, and Mimmy.
