Hey girls,
I have a painter over here painting one of our rooms that will be our second baby's room (we are applying to adopt another girl). We will not adopt for a year or so, but the painter is painting the rest of the interior of our home and is just going to get this done too.
We are having it done pink with one brown wall that will have pink polka dots on it.
Well, to my dismay, the painter won't just go ahead and do it herself, she wants me to design it on paper first.
HELP!
I want different sized circles, but how many of each size do I use, and how do I place them so not to make it look like a straight line of circles? I am going nuts trying to create this. I wanted different sized dots that seem to "bounce" around the wall. The wall is 10 feet long and normal ceiling height (don't know taht measurement)

Does anyone want to play around in their digi scrapping program and come up with a dotty design for me?!?!?!?

My DIL and I did dots on Bailey's wall. We used different sized plates for stencils. It was kind of random and we did it as we went, just sort of filling in spaces. Not only were ours different sized, but different colors too. If you can wait until I get home Friday, I'll send you a picture. It was a royal pain in the backside to do them too. Just so you know.

Hey Beth, check out the papers in the boutique, find one you like and continue the pattern.

Hey Beth- here is a crazy idea. Cut a peice of paper to the right dimensions- 10 by 8 (assuming you have "regular" ceiling heights... Give your DD a crayon and ask her to draw dots on it. I will bet you she comes up with a great pattern that is NOT straight! Then you can use use that as a template and make some bigger and smaller (or rounder ;) ) The things that children come up with are so creative!

Can't wait to see what you come up with! (PS- I tried to make one for you... they felt too straight to me :) )

The other thing you could do is to cut out a bunch of random circle in different sizes and tape them to the wall and play around with it. I think you'll know what you like and dont like when you see it.

Thanks girls! I would love to see Bailey's room, and Shannon's craft room pictures. Oh, we are nowhere near done yet. The pink paint went on the wall and oh my! It looks like pepto or bubble gum! It is SO bright. I had the painter come back and we chose a much lighter shade. So that will go up on the walls next week, so I have some time for the dots. I think I want small ones, different sizes. Using plates is a cool idea. And so is taping paper circles up there to be able to move them around to get them to look random.
Do I really have the energy for this???
The painter also suggested wavey stripes of brown down one wall....hmmm...trying to visualize.
I should just have the painter recreate a paper from the boutique on the wall for me, LOL. Wonder if I could even get a wall sized version of a paper printed?
i'm actually wondering this.... Kind of like those peel off stick on wall art things.... hmmmm.....

Beth, being that we are digital scrapbookers, have you tried making a sample of what you want using PSE (or what ever)? Just create a new document - if your room is 10 feet long and 8 feet high, make your document 10x8. then, to figure out how large the circles should be, you might look at some plates or cut out paper circles to get the proportions right - if you like a circle that is 12 inches wide in real life, make your circle 1 inch wide in PSE, etc.

Once you've decided on the sizes, create circles those sizes on separate layers. Then move them around to your hearts content. :D I'd start by placing a few of the largest circles, then filling in the empty spots with smaller ones. When you've got something you like, you can show it to the painter.

Does that make sense?

Hey girl! How's the room coming along?

Your post about "pepto" made me laugh. Do you remember that scene from Steel Magnolias where they are all in the beauty shop and Shelby (Julia Roberts) is talking about her wedding. She says, "My colors are blush and bashful."

And Malinn (Sally Field) says, "Her colors are pink and pink."

Shelby, "Mama--my colors are blush and bashful."

Malinn "That sanctuary looks like it's been hosed down with Pepto-Bismol."

I love that scene.

Anyways, I hope you got your blushes and bashfuls sorted out. Now how about those dots?
