Guest heartofwisdom
Now that I'm learning Photoshop I tried to charge some buttons on my web site but found the images locked in the layer pallet. I can't find how to unlock to add layers? These are copyrighted-- I purchased the a web template, but it been so long I can't remember where I purchased to ask. Any help appreciated. Betsy
Usually, you can just duplicate the layer, then delete the locked layer and you should be good to go!
angleigh
Also I've found once I open something (clipart etc) if I look in the layers palette there will be the name 'background' with the lock symbol. Double click on the work 'background' a screen will come up for you to rename the layer..if you just hit enter it will rename and unlock the layer for you. Guest heartofwisdom
Thanks for your help. I was unable to name, move , duplicte or anything to the file or layer. The only way I was able to do this was open a new file and PLACE into the new file.
scrappydo
Select the layer in the layers pallette. There is a small "lock" symbol and a check boy. Uncheck the box and the layer is unlocked. If the layer says "background" you just need to rename it.
