Help
I am always amazed with all the books that come out near the holidays. All those feel-good stories. I'm a sucker for those. Yesterday, I got More Stories Behind the Best-Loved Songs of Christmas. Its really interesting and so for I've only gotten through a few of them. I'm alsways a pushover for the holiday romances too. I am not a big romance reader, but this time of year my brain turns to mush and I'm a sap. Always looking for recommendations to build my Christmas collection of books.

Actually I love to read...I go through phases though. I'm not in one of my reading phases right now. I spend my "extra" time at SGs or in Adobe. lol

I know I'm not reading nearly as much as I used to because of the time I spend here and trying to scrap as much as I can, but that lst 15 or 20 minutes before I go to sleep are my book times.

I was one of the handful of people that really liked Grisham's SKIPPING CHRISTMAS. For sentimental mush (nothing wrong with mush!) I enjoyed Fannie Flagg's A REDBIRD CHRISTMAS. I actually "read" the audio version, read by the author. It was a very sweet story, perfect for the Christmas season. Oh, for a little time to read.

We just got a book that was recommended as a Christmas book as it tells the "full story". It's called "The Jesus Storybook Bible -- every story whispers His name". It's written for kids, but it in no way talks down to them It is just wonderful. It goes through the Bible starting in Genesis retelling the stories and making point of how they ALL lead to Jesus. It does go past the Christmas story and on into the rest of the New Testament also. The pictures and prose go together so well. When I started reading it to preview it for our girls, I didn't want to put it down. I can not recommend this book more highly. DH said the same thing when he took a look (and he's a huge bibliophile -- both Bible and general books 
)

We just got a new book this year called The Christmas Gift of Aloha. I needed to read it It helped me get in the Christmas mood despite being somewhere it never snows and where we're still tromping around in shorts and flip flops.

I pulled a good one off the shelf last night for a bedtime read, and it really put me into the Christmas spirit.
from the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, The Book of Christmas Virtues.
Lots of short stories - one suggestion in the forward was to read one aloud each day as a family.

My current children's Christmas story is by Max Lucado, The Crippled Lamb. Be sure to have a box of tissues with you before you start, and sit next to your child!

The book I read last year was "The Christmas Candle" by Max Lucado. The chapters are short and the story is lovely. Just what I needed. Perhaps I'll reread it again this week.

We read this the other night. Love it! Our daughters were delighted with it. It's a staple at our house each year.
We're reading a funny one that I remember from elementary school called 'The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" by Barbara Robinson. It's just a bit of a stretch for our 6 year olds, but we've gotten past all the introduction of characters and they're just dying to keep going. It's funny (and a bit shocking in places) but also has a very poignant ending (can't wait to get there with the girls...their gonna love it!).
Love all the suggestions that have been given.

My all time favorite book ever is "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens.

If you can find it (it's from 1987), Sandra Boynton's "Christmastime" is an absolute hoot and a wonderful stress buster.

I wouldn't read it to young children, at least until you've read it through first.
