Guest heartofwisdom
My dad said they only last two years and even the special ones only last 10 years. Is this true?
scrapsoflife
I don't have the exact figures, but it's my understanding that the average life of a home-burned CD is about 5 years (obviously the commercially produced ones last longer since I have some from the mid-90s that are still perfectly fine! lol) DVDs, on the other hand, are reputed to be much more stable and last longer. Of course, with the relative inexpensiveness of both mediums, it's not inconceivable to burn CDs now, and either burn them again in a few years to keep them current or amass them onto a DVD later on down the line
