I've read the instructions that come with the texturizer and I have tried to load it. (using
Photoshop, btw) I can't click open the texture jpg file or the psd file. Help! TIA

First, let me ask you some questions...

1. Did you put the textures in your Photoshop texture folder? That is located on your CD drive.

C > Program Files > Adobe > Photoshop (look for your version > Presets > Textures

Drop them in there

2. Then you have to go to Filters > Textures > Texturizer

3. Now look by the right of the actual name of the texture you have. There is a little button with an arrow pointing off to the right. Click on that (or mouse over it and you will see that it is Load Texture) and you can browse to your texture file. Yes, you do need to browse clear back to your origianal place where you put the files (C > Program Files > Adobe > Photoshop (look for your version > Presets > Textures)

And you do have to get each one when you want to use a new one. They don't load in PS and then "stay" loaded. But during the same session, PS will stay in that folder so that you don't have to rebrowse to the location each time.

Hope that helps!

Hi, Ro...

I put the texture in the presets/textures in my hard drive under PS. When I browse back to the load the texture, the files that work are in black (and those I can load and I guess, came standard in PS) but the the freebie I got here (LCO_Designs1_TextureSpecial.jpg) is in gray and won't load when I click on it. Thanks again for your help.

The jpgs are for PSP users and won't work with the Texturizer. The Texturizer uses the PSD version. Both versions are included in all the downloads, so don't let that confuse you.

They are both (LCO_Designs1_TextureSpecial.jpg and LCO_Designs1_TextureSpecial.psd)in the hard drive file under presets/textures but both are in gray and can't be selected. I am just stumped. Sorry..:-}

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with this texture. I just went and checked it in CS2 and PSE4 and had no problem. I don't have 7 but as long as it has the texturizer filter (it does doesn't it?) there should be no problem.

I did notice something that brings up a question though...when I went to load this texture in both CS2 and PSE4 all that is shown to me is the psd version, I can't even see the jpg version even though I know it's in the same folder. I tried to change the file type drop down menu in the load window to show me all the files of all types so I could see if the jpg's were greyed out, but the texturizer won't allow that. So where is it you see both the psd and the jpg together greyed out?

Hi, Lori..

sorry to be such a pain about this. i can't get it to work, it's alright:-} it must be my computer. anyway, these are the steps I have taken. I go to filter, then texture, then texturizer. The texturizer box opens up . There is a pull down menu by Texture: I click on the arrows and select load texture. Then the file finder box opens so I can select the file that I put under PS/Presets/Texture. I can see both of the files, one after the other but both are greyedout.:-{ Thank you.

geez, I'm stumped.

Do the other textures work ok? the ones that came with it or any others?

I went and tried again on CS2 and here's the window I get. As you can see, it only "see's" psd's so even though the jpg is in this exact same folder, it doesn't show. [attachment=1206:attachment]

I don't know anything about 7 (and next to nothing about CS2, I"m a PSP girl) so maybe it's something in there, but that doesn't really make sense to me either. The texturizer filter in PS is also available as a free filter for other programs, so you'd think that it would be the same filter no matter what program was using it. If you're really curious to see if maybe your filter is corrupt, you can download a new version and try it in that one. Follow this tut...it's for DIP but it's exactly the same in other programs. I'll keep pondering...

I also use PS 7 and I was just trying some different things to see what would work. I opened the .psd file in PS 7 and renamed the file (just added a 1 at the end). When I saved the file, it then showed a preview thumbnail in the presets/textures folder which it did not have prior to doing this.
When I went back to PS 7, I was able to go into Texture>Texturizer and load that file.
I'm not sure why that made a difference but it worked! :)
