Changes To Layouts

So far I have made two layouts and one greeting card. Before saving them, I flattened the layers. Is there any way I can makes changes to them now?

Also, I went to print my 8x8 layouts at a photo lab and their 8 x 10 format wouldn't fit the layout. I know I read something about this on the board, but I can't find it now. Should I be making my layout 7x7? Or should I find a different place to print?

Fran, unfortunately if you have flattened your layouts then you can not go back and change them once they are saved. If you think that you are going to make changes, it's always a good thing to save it in layers... Then when you want to send a copy to the printers then you can flatten it as long as you make sure you save it with a new file name. Most of the time, if you just change the file type to jpeg or png it will flatten it for you.

As for the printers not being able to print an 8x8 on an 8x10.. that I'm not sure. I would think they could.. but I've never tried printing this at a printer. Hopefully someone else can answer this for you.

Hmm, the particularly printer may not have been able to print "bleeds" which means printing to the edges (and beyond). Try asking them if they have a printer that can print full bleeds. Another option is to ask if they can print on 8.5" x 11" photo paper. That's what I use at home. My layouts end up having a 1/4" margin around it. You can either trim this or keep the margins. I keep mine because it kind of looks nice and polished with the white space. Also, my scrapbook album allows for 8.5x8.5 pages.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you get this resolved.

What might be the problem is that when you let them be printed at a photolab is the digital size of your LO compared to their printing preferences. I went to a printer with my 8,5x11 LO's and they came back with edges cut of. They told me to resize the LO to a 2:3 measurement instead of 3:4 ( which happened to digital photo's ect.) I found it very strange since I started the page in PS at 8,5X11. But still didn't work for them.

What I did was when I finished my LO, was opening up a new 8,5X11 and put the 8x8 LO in there. Then I went to print preview and hit the box: scale to fit media. ( in Photoshop). That did the trick for me. From that moment on my LO's are perfectly printed and all I have to do is trim them. In the space that is still open I put a few mini photo's.

HTH!
